Ah, I see. I don't watch the news much, so I didn't realize the collection had hit the news.Tawmis wrote: It made the news. I was just posting it because I had read it on the news; and knew there were several collectors here who would - if nothing else - appreciate the collection.

Re: Sierra Games: Where Do I Belong?
Though I have no idea in which other game he appears, I would imagine it's a Dynamix/Jeff Tunnell Productions game. Random guess: 3D Ultra Minigolf. You're correct that it's a Dynamix game, but it's not 3D Ultra Minigolf. Though...it would be interesting if he showed up as an Easter Egg I've never ...

Re: You a SNES fan?
Wow - what a collection! Just out of curiosity, are you reposting this, or are you the creator of the eBay item? The initial post here on the Sierra Help Files forum doesn't seem clear in that regard, especially since another site also links to the same eBay item.

You're right about who the character is, dotkel50, but not the game in which he appears!

Re: Question regarding IP rights of Roland MT-32 ROMs
To further this thread's goal, I'm going to post my research on the topic below. I should note that I had help from a friend of mine (who shall remain nameless) in performing the research. The contents of this VOGONS thread by canadacow (aka Dean Beeler), if they are to be believed, seem to suggest ...

Question regarding IP rights of Roland MT-32 ROMs
In another thread I made, Collector made a passing comment that the IP rights of the Roland MT-32 ROMs are "tenuous". This made me ask myself what this means, precisely. I had done some previous research on the topic, and came to a similar conclusion as Collector. As such, at Collector's b...

Re: Audio Samples as Custom MT-32 Instruments?
The MT-32 is not like a SoundFont capable sound card. SoundFonts are essentially wavetables overlaid on top of the MIDI. The MT-32 is programmable, dynamically interacting with the MIDI input and output. This is why an MT-32 SoundFont can never be a substitute for the real hardware nor Munt. All th...

Audio Samples as Custom MT-32 Instruments?
While playing Dynamix's Quarky & Quaysoo's Turbo Science , I (rather obviously) found that when played with a Roland MT-32 , it only outputted music; however, when played with a SoundBlaster, I actually get audio samples along with music! This obviousness got me thinking - why couldn't you simpl...

Re: Sierra's Worse Adventure Game?
I am sure I mentioned it here; but in a discussion with Al, he had mentioned that he had intended 2 or 3 more games for Torin's Passage, but Sierra was already in a downward spiral and declined it. That's just too bad. I actually thought it was a great young adult game. But maybe I am just being bi...

Re: Sierra's Worse Adventure Game?
You may be right - and I may be immune to bad words these days - but remind me what they were? As far as I can remember (I think there were more), when the old guard talks with Torrin about a departure meal , he mentions he wants freshly-squeezed berry juice , not "that canned c*%p." (see...
