Anyone played "The Vanishing of Ethan Carter"?

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter , an adventure-esque game made by The Astronauts, recently released on Steam and GOG.com. Given that there was a bit of a debate which spawned after I posted the thoughts of the company head, who also designed The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, on old-school adventure game...

Re: LOL... oh dear.

Rath lives in Australia. And yes, games are ridiculously overpriced there. Yep! I do live in Australia, and yes - games are ridiculously overpriced here. $90 is about average for a new release - and, to make things worse, game prices do not fall for at least 2 years (or even 3 years, if the game is...

Re: LOL... oh dear.

Is $90 the average price for a PC game in the UK? I would've said something to the effect of "What the heck? That's as much as a brand-new Nintendo 64 cartridge in 1996!"...until I recognized the UK name of Electronics Boutique (yes, you are correct, Rath).

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2014/08/16/sierra-s-new-king-s-quest-won-t-be-a-point-and-click-adventure.aspx An important note on this from the developers on that in response to a concerned Internet-goer : We have your best interest at heart, KQ is my favorite game series of all time a...

Rath Darkblade wrote:So it is. However, I have to take exception to Sierra calling King Graham "the greatest adventurer to ever live". ;)

(In Daventry, perhaps?) ;)
Gotta make King Graham marketable to the modern masses somehow. :P

Re: New "Sierra" intro at Sierra.com...

Getting back on-topic, it seems at least one person thinks Activision is trying to play up the publisher aspect of Sierra Games. If they are, then with the glut of self-publishing and self-funding options available these days, not to mention the console makers - including Nintendo - are courting ind...

Git offa ma lawn!!!! :D I tend to not pay that much attention my feed as much as the groups. I don't feel the need to keep unfollowing FB friends to stop toxic knuckle draggery garbage from filling my feed if I don't read the feed. You should try reading video game industry sites like gamesin...

Re: New "Sierra" intro at Sierra.com...

It's for real! EDIT: Some actual details from the linked article: Sierra is now known as Sierra Games . Sierra Games' goal is to find and task "talented indie developers working on their own amazing projects" who are "passionate about working on great Sierra IP" to develop new g...

Re: New "Sierra" intro at Sierra.com...

I agree that QfG is primarily an adventure with RPG elements. However, the hero has run his course. Remember that it was originally intended to be just a trilogy. The Coles felt that the hero was not quite ready for the final chapter at the end of 2, so the series was extended to four. Five only ha...

Re: New "Sierra" intro at Sierra.com...

Why don't we remain cautiously optimistic until we know more, okay? ... The point is we don't know. I have very substantial and solid reasons for believing everything I have said in my original post. That is all. Feel free to be as optimistic as you like. If your reasons are so substantial and sold...

Re: New "Sierra" intro at Sierra.com...

It'd be so nice to see technologically advanced Adventure games with a good budget, as opposed to the craptastic titles (with a few exceptions) that've littered the genre. I hope the new Sierra games are actually the former and aren't so twisted into being 'modern' that they're glorified interactiv...

Re: Curious blog post on adventure gaming seven deadly "sins"

Andrea might have something to say about it as the article specifically cites Moebius. I think he was disappointed with it. Some of what he says is rather obvious, like bad writing can ruin a game. Well, duh! I disagree with him on other things. He seems to feel that loading a screen with a lot of ...

Re: Curious blog post on adventure gaming seven deadly "sins"

With the inclusion of "point system" he lost me. As someone who's read this fellow's blog before - and by the way, Mr. Chmielarz certainly isn't a nobody - he has the same, incredibly angry reaction to points systems, achievements, and other such systems which developers use to track play...

Curious blog post on adventure gaming seven deadly "sins"

I recently read an interesting blog post featured on the front page of Gamasutra, a major video game industry news website, by a fellow named Adrian Chmielarz on what he feels are the seven deadly "sins" in adventure games and why they keep the genre dead . One could summarize the article ...

Re: Steam Keys (legally bought from game bundles)

Okay, I've got some Steam keys left over from various game bundles I've bought over 2013. The games listed below are titles I already own or simply don't want because I'm not interested in playing them. If anyone here wants some of these games, PM me and I'll send you the key. Please don't ask for ...
