Re: Burnout Paradise for PC.
For controls, have you tried the in-game options menu? It's accessible by pulling up the map; there will be indicators up on the top left and top right which tell you the buttons to press in order to move between information screen (more like "pause screens", really). Eventually, you'll re...

Opinions on "Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller"?
Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller , created by Phoenix Online Studios (yes, the same people who made the King's Quest: The Silver Lining series), has recently been released. However, the only good things I've heard about it are regarding the graphics and music. Everything else seems to be either OK...

Re: Kings Quest 2 - SCI Remake - You can contribute!
Since you're opening this up to non-artists, I think including an EGA color table, such as this public domain one, would be immensely useful for those wanting to honor the 16 on-screen colors limit and for those wanting to ensure they only use EGA colors. (Of course, since the SCI version of King's ...

Re: Precinct (Jim Walls KS)
Apparently, Jim Walls has cancelled his Kickstarter for Precinct in order to do crowdfunding on a new, Precinct-specific crowdfuning site . The mean reason cited for the switch was so focus could be placed on the game, rather than having to worry about costs associated with physical rewards (althoug...

Dug this one out of a box in the basement....what a fun game. PandorasBox.jpg Holy shoot, dotkel50! That is indeed one awesome game you've got there - it's a rare one as well, so hold onto it and backup the disc. On-topic, I'm currently playing SWAT 3 (which has surprisingly-intelligent AI if you m...

Re: Adventure Games. My Thoughts Of Late.
I know it's been awhile since I posted on these forums, but I thought I'd share my point-of-view on the subject. I've found whenever I have a lot of work to do, or have a job, my willingness to dedicate time to games just goes down the drain because I feel like I won't be able to dedicate sufficient...

Nope. ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif)
To speed things up, I'll give you a hint: you were so close before that you almost had it in sight. All you needed was a magic map to see it.

As requested, here's the same spot as before, only using the VGA driver the game came with:

Re: "Let's Play" of Lighthouse: The Dark Being
With "fullresolution= 0x0" in the [sdl] part of the conf, it will use the native resolution of your monitor for full screen. You can experiment with DOSBox's rendering modes if you want to try to reduce pixelization. DOSBox has a built in video capture, ZMBV, which is very good, but you w...

Re: "Let's Play" of Lighthouse: The Dark Being
It is not higher resolution, but jafa's installer does fake the removal of the cut scene interlacing with nearest neighbor via DirectX . Both use exactly the same graphics. The movies themselves are missing every other scan line. If you play the VMDs directly you can see that they are only half hei...

Re: Dark Horizons entering open beta soon!
Looks like the Mech Warrior MMO. Believe me, it plays nothing like it.It's more like an arcade experience - not to the level of Hawken, which is basically an arcade-style 'Mech game - as the controls are dramatically simplified and your 'radar' is more like a minimap. Also, the 'Mechs (MAVs) you ca...

Re: "Let's Play" of Lighthouse: The Dark Being
Most screen capture utilities ignore the cursor. You could run the DOS version in DOSBox to get the cursor. FRAPS, the recording software I use, does have an option to capture the cursor as well. Oddly enough, though, the option doesn't seem to work with SquirtTheCat's Windows port of the game. Als...

Dark Horizons entering open beta soon!
Hey everyone! Dark Horizons (formerly known as Dark Horizons: MAV ), an arcade-like 'Mech game I've worked on previously as an alpha tester, will soon be going into open beta! Dark Horizons takes the arcade elements of Hawken and combines them with the simulation aspects of the Mechwarrior and Earth...
