Re: KQ5 audio issue
I'm emulating MT32. I think ADL.DRV is an official driver since my old KQ Collection CD also installs it for KQ5. It's probably not meant to be used in DOS and only in Windows, but it sounds fine in DOS except for the chirping from the little I've played. I was using a 2013 version of DAUM. I feel l...

KQ5 audio issue
I'm using the KQ5 CD version from GOG. The audio sounds fine in ScummVM for the most part, although I don't remember how accurate it is. But the problem I'm having is with DOSBox. The ADL.DRV sounds fine in DOSBox except for background bird chirping, which sounds terrible almost like PC speaker chir...

Re: Introduce Yourself!
I'm a big fan of adventure games, not necessarily limited to Sierra, although they have published some of my favorites! Most of my favorite adventure games also happen to be the ones I played growing up, but I am always on the lookout for new and fun ones. I keep hearing about Gabriel Knight and th...

Re: Steam and GOG sales
Gabriel Knight Sins of the Father 20th Anniversary Edition is $5 (75% off) on GOG.com, as well as most Telltale games and some other point and click adventures, like the Tex Murphy series.

Re: Help with new computer - what do you think?
Just buy a new computer. CPU/GPU/Mobo is most of the cost anyways. I'm surprised you can't upgrade your GPU though. As long as it has PCI-E, then you should be able to upgrade. I don't think either of those computers look that great. On both, you'll have to add a GPU if you want to play graphically ...

I think there was a non-Tribes Starsiege mech game too.

I think the best thing about this moment is that it isn't the end of the game.Tawmis wrote:There is NO finer moment... no GREATER moment in video game history... than this:

Re: Hardware question...
Whenever a computer has problems running a new game, it's almost always because the graphics card isn't powerful enough. One issue with buying a cheap computer like the ones you listed is that they usually skimp on motherboard and power supply. The Centrecom system has an H81 motherboard which is ve...

Re: Kyrandia Book 1.
It's one of my favorite adventure games. I thought the inventory system worked good. Everything was on one screen and easy to manipulate. The audio was awesome. Some of the screens were visually stunning at the time. I hate mazes in games, but the cave part in Kyrandia doesn't bother me too much. It...

Re: King's Quest by the Odd Gentlemen (Trailer inside!)
It looks more like a Dragon's Lair game than a King's Quest game, which I don't think will appeal to anyone. You can't resurrect one of the most famous adventure game franchises of all time, and not make it an adventure game. I like the graphics, though, if that's actual gameplay graphics and not cu...

Re: Dragon Age: Origins free til Oct. 14
The name is the easy part for me. I pretty much always use the same name. Making the character look like me is the hard part. Yes, I'm a narcissist. And I also write down each other options I choose and values I change so that I can go back and recreate it if need be.

Re: GAH. I hate %@&*ing Hollywood. :-(
A lot of people seem to like the second movie better than the first, but I thought it was even worse. Here's the TL;DR of it. I hated all of the callbacks to LOTR in the first movie that just reminded me of how much better those movies were, and the unnecessary prologue with old Bilbo and Frodo that...

Re: GAH. I hate %@&*ing Hollywood. :-(
Have you seen the movie? Because I thought it was pretty bad as both a fan of the book and of the LOTR movies, and you're not missing anything. I actually yelled out "Are you f***ing kidding me?" when the credits rolled.

Re: A Summary of the Differences Between Sierra's AGI and SCI
The Apple IIgs versions of AGI games (and probably Amiga and Atari ST versions) had mouse support. Apple IIgs AGI games also had enhanced audio.
