Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
I've gotten some Dr. Brain games -- Time Warp, Lost Mind, and Island. The only one left in the Sierra series is Castle of Dr. Brain. I'll be keeping an eye out on eBay for the Sierra Originals release of that. By the way, I did some investigation into the Dr. Brain franchise. Around 1998. Knowledge ...

Re: Non-Sierra Installers and Patches
I have figured out how to run the newer Windows version (which I now call the 2002 version) of QFG4 1/2 in DOSBox. It requires AGS 2.31 (the final version with a DOS editor), whose DOS runtime (ACDOS.EXE) can be pointed to the game's executable. Since the earlier DOS version (now called the 2001 ver...

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
I do know that several strings were changed, obviously due to Nintendo's policies at the time. There was even at least an actual message for when Graham climbs the rope attached to the tree branch. In the PC version, the death message was the generic "Thanks for playing King's Quest V." In...

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
I ordered the NES adaptation of KQ5 on eBay. Here it is! I've dumped it to a ROM file for examination. I've also been working on a decompilation of KQ5CD.

I've created a debug script for QFG1VGA
As part of my QFG1VGA fixpack project, I've managed to put together a debug script for the game. It was based off the SQ5 debug script, with some functions specific to the QFG series (using the QFG4 debug script for reference). I may work on a version for QFG3 later. http://sciprogramming.com/commun...

Re: DOS interpreter for the GOG.com release of LSL7
ThunderBoard didn't fix the scratchy music. In fact, it just caused it to ALWAYS be scratchy (unlike Sound Blaster, which only was scratchy occasionally) EDIT: I put up an updated archive that has the drivers from the LSL7 demo and the INSTALL program from the RAMA demo. The scratchiness seems to be...

Re: DOS interpreter for the GOG.com release of LSL7
I've just recently tested this (took me a while, I know), and the sound tends to get either scratchy or muted at times. I thought it might have had something to do with the drivers being meant for Phantasmagoria 2, not Leisure Suit Larry 7. But it appears that this is actually a DOSBox issue, as I'v...

DOS interpreter for the GOG.com release of LSL7
The GOG.com release of Leisure Suit Larry 7: Love for Sail is the Windows 95 version, and used the SquirtTheCat installer. With a bit of work, I was able to put together the DOS interpreter (thanks to the official patch, which had it), the needed drivers (thanks to Phantasmagoria 2, which uses the s...

System Shock 2 On GOG.com
After years of legal issues and being the most requested game, GOG.com finally has System Shock 2 available for purchase. It shot up to being the top-selling game, just like the Leisure Suit Larry games when they were released there. After many times of being impressed by them, I'm now awarding a Ka...

Sierra Game Versions in Compilations
Here is a list of some of the newer Sierra compilations that I have and the included games' versions in them. I got the information from the debug modes and VERSION files, as well as the ScummVM wiki. Most of the games are up to date in the 2006 collections (except KQ7 and LSL6). 2006 Collections Ki...

Re: Introduce Yourself!
Hello everybody. I've been a Sierra fan for much of my life. The first computer game I ever played was Quest for Glory I VGA. Since then, I've been searching around through Sierra games' coding with SCI Resource Viewer and seeing various things that were dummied out of the final version. Maybe soon ...
