Yes, indeed. It is worth quite a lot of puzzle points and tells you all about Ad Avis and his magic, but is not necessary.

You'll probably have to reload. The caged beast dies after a certain period of time. Its timer starts ticking as soon as you first see it, so basically you have to act fast. Also, in case you do not have the dispel potion at the certain time, it might mean that it dies due to that.

That was indeed an excellent picture, well done. However, as far as I know Brauggi is the only person in the series with a red pair of pants, so I guess that kind of gave it away. :) I really know how you feel about QFG by the way, I tend to replay it every 2 years or so just for old times sakes. :)...
