I appreciate your help with this issue.

I used the Castle of Dr. Brain DOSBox installer to install the game from my floppy discs. Everything seemed to install just fine, but when I run the game the DOSBox window opens and then immediately closes.

Reinstall seems to have worked, music is all there now. Thanks for the help

Yep, played KQ5 last night and everything was fine. Willy Beamish, Eagle Eye Mysteries, and Sam & Max Hit the Road also play just fine.

Yep, .mid files play in Winamp, Quicktime, and Windows Media Player.

Though it took me a little bit into the game to notice, there appears to be no music playing. All voices and sound effects appear to be there, but none of the area music. I noticed it first in the cave with the giant scorpion, there's no "danger" music just the scorpion screeching and walk...

Okay, reinstallation successful both DOSBox and ScummVM were found. Still no music in the DOSBox version of 6, but all sound is there in the ScummVM version. So at least we know the problem isn't with 6 itself just somewhere in the DOSBox version. And though I prefer the cursor icons in the DOSBox v...

I just tried reinstalling The Collection and the installer didn't mention ScummVM at all, it didn't seem to detect that it was installed like it did DOSBox nor did it give the option of finding it or installing it.

Thanks! That seems to have fixed the shortcut issue and the speech issue in 6. However, I still don't seem to have music or sound effects in 6 and apparently also 5 as I'm positive there was background music in town but it's not there now.

I have successfully installed the King's Quest Collection and the DOSBox Update, however when I click the respective game shortcut (eg. King's Quest 5.exe) nothing happens. Annoying, but I did sort of find a way around that one by using the DOSBox.BAT file. That works just fine for games 1-5 and 7, ...
