Re: Started a high-res re-texturing project of GK3
So I had been running in a few "fatal exception errors" that occurred a couple of minutes into the game at random spots. I'm not entirely sure if it's caused by the new textures or the higher resolution (1920x1080). I tried on/off settings in-game on mipmapping and incrementatal rendering,...

Re: Favorite of the Series?
Conquests of the Longbow is arguably a better game. It has better art and music (partly thanks to the higher resolution and color option). But where the game really shines is the dialog and how the game responds to whatever style you want to play. There are so many alternative solutions, that are al...

Re: Started a high-res re-texturing project of GK3
Thanks for the tips. I managed to get it to the 1920x1080 resolution. The installer would be a great addition. Yeah, I can imagine it may be difficult to include the updated texture files, but perhaps it can work if you have downloaded that separately. The game also need to be downloaded before you ...

Re: Started a high-res re-texturing project of GK3
I managed to solve the issue on why the textures don't load on my computer. The gk3.ini file, if you create it with the standard text editor in Windows, actually defaults it into gk3.ini.txt. Had to use a DOS prompt to rename that properly...there are probably easier ways, but still a very typical p...

Re: Started a high-res re-texturing project of GK3
HI all, Great news on these upgraded textures. I wanted to try it out and followed the exact procedure as explained on larrylaffer.net, however even though the game loads properly I don't really see any difference with before....I'm pretty sure I'm seeing the old textures. Some specifics: - I have t...

Re: Gabriel Knight 2 audio issue
Thanks for the replies. I've tried running the game in ScummVM, and although it is hard to do a scene by scene comparison, it appears to be less of an issue in scummvm. Can be a perception thing obviously. Shame that scummvm doesn't allow for the subtitle patch to be utilized, otherwise I would simp...

Gabriel Knight 2 audio issue
About 6/7 years ago I used the Collector's DVD installer to create a DVD package of Gabriel Knight 2, based on the original 6 CD's. The DVD auto-runs, with Collectors installer integrated and creates a fully playable version of Gabriel Knight 2 using DOSBox. I have now, after several years, tried to...

Re: Gabriel Knight 1 using the Collector DOSBox installer
I just heard that Gabriel Knight 1 was released on GOG.com Anyone have any experience with this version? I heard its the normal CD version released with DOSBox, but tweaked by the GOG.com team. Does anyone know if they: - manage to improve the audio quality by tweaking the drivers or DOSBox settings...

Re: Gabriel Knight 1 using the Collector DOSBox installer
I have put the config settings back to Thunderboard. As I mentioned, its only appalling quality for the CD audio....the rest of the game is mostly midi (which sounds very nice through my soundcanvas)....and voice audio (where the quality difference is not so noticeable). I assume there are no update...

Gabriel Knight 1 using the Collector DOSBox installer
Hi, I have a question concerning running the CD version of Gabriel Knight 1 using the DOSBox installer. First of all the installer seems to apply the Thunderboard sound driver instead of the Soundblaster. I noticed that the Thunderboard outputted a much poorer sound quality for the CD/digital music,...

Gabriel Knight 2 with the GK2 installer
Hi all, I've used the GK2 installer to put GK2 on a DVD and install it to my harddrive from there. This works fine, but when I play the game I do experience some (pretty) serious problems with the full motion video. Each time the camera changes from character to character during conversations the ch...
