Re: KQ6-vista-getting it to run in 256 colors

You need the high res character art files, though.

Seeking feedback on a Sierra chronology I wrote

I've just written a first draft of an article that I pretty much wrote for myself. It started out as a simple list of Sierra's adventure games, but turned into an article on the history of the company from the perspective of facts that I find interesting or useful. If anyone could provide feedback, ...

Which Glide wrapper for KQ8?

This is mainly for WinXP, but now that GOG released a Win7 compatible version, I'm interested in Win7 too.

DgVoodoo makes the game crash.

Zeckensack is ok, but 2D stuff flickers.

OpenGLide has the same flickering problems, and it slows everything down to a crawl.

Re: I've got a bunch of questions about MIDI in Sierra games.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something, they all support MT-32. Space Quest 6 seems to be the final Sierra game to use MIDI, and MT-32 is one of the options in the setup menu.

Re: I've got a bunch of questions about MIDI in Sierra games.

General MIDI and the Roland Sound Canvas are the same thing, at least where Sierra games are concerned. There was never a time when Sierra's games supported General MIDI but not the Sound Canvas. They are one and the same. But was there any transitional phase where GM was supported, but the music w...

I've got a bunch of questions about MIDI in Sierra games.

The way music works in DOS games, Sierra games in particular, is something I sort of understand, but not completely, and I'd like to get a better and/or more accurate understanding of what's meant to happen vs. what actually does. I have a rudimentary understanding of what MIDI is, and a somewhat co...

Re: Has anyone got a savegame near the end of QFG4?

Thanks! I finished the game in a little over an hour, and the export/import works just fine.

Now... to finally play QFG5... using a paladin export I made 12 years ago.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV -- DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!

There's Games For Windows, and there's Games For Windows Live. The former is fairly benign - just a set of design standards that have gotten increasingly relaxed since their start. Games For Windows Live is where it starts to get annoying. Also, there's really no reason not to install SP3. Staying u...

Re: Has anyone got a savegame near the end of QFG4?

It's not that. I just want to test QFG4's export feature, and make sure it works with my copy of QFG5 (and some auto-backup batch files I wrote and confirmed work with every QFG game except 4->5).

Has anyone got a savegame near the end of QFG4?

If you do, could I have a copy? Paladin is preferred, but anything will do, as long as I can complete the game fairly quickly with it.

If you need a place to upload the files, http://www.2shared.com/ seems like a pretty simple solution.

Much appreciated.

Re: Which Sierra games are enhanced on Windows?

Well, I'm running XP 32 at the moment, but I'm trying to "future proof" my collection. I guess the question is which will happen first - my move to Windows 7, or stable SCI support in ScummVM. I'm *really* looking forward to SCI support in ScummVM, but who knows when that will happen. Also...

Re: Which Sierra games are enhanced on Windows?

Thanks for the response! Of those four, the only one I've got is GK2. So, aside from KQ6 and GK2, there's no reason whatsoever to not just use straight DOSBox for all of my Sierra CD-ROM games? The FMV quality will be just the same with all the other games? The SCI-32 games I've got are: GK1 GK2 KQ7...

Which Sierra games are enhanced on Windows?

Of all the Sierra adventure games that were released on both DOS and Windows, which are enhanced in Windows, and how? I recall KQ6 on Windows had higher resolution dialog window portraits, which I never could get working on DOS, so I'm assuming it's not possible in DOS. I also *think* that Gabriel K...
