Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

Hey thats really nice novel. Does it give away any elements of the gameplay? Like hints or tips e.t.c.? Can you scan a few pages of it, to see what its like inside please. Never heard of such a novel, great find you made! :)

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

Perhaps, that would make sense. I also got my HQ1 from the US. I also prefer the "original American" versions and not the watered down European versions, with several languages spoiling the covers e.t.c. Yeah, postage is a factor too, sometimes it costs more to send than the actual price o...

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

Ok, perhaps because its in USA?. Here in Europe it's the other way around. So many QFG1's that you trip over them at the supermarket! Hero's Quest took a long time for me to find.

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

Thats great! I also have that version. Its the best one of the series, not the game per se, but the original Hero's Quest, the way it was meant to be :)

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

Constantin, yeah it really sounds sooo incomplete, all you got was cardboard! You'd best give it to me then ;)

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

Yeah, its nice to see some movement in this thread after so many months of quietness. And nice story constantin! You see how effort pays off, all of a sudden you're sitting with a "complete" collection of a series. But I'll gladly help you out with your PQ2 Atari ST edition........send it ...

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

Thanks for the link, I saw that some time ago. Paying for old games just to collect is ok, no more different than people collecting stamps. i.e. they don't use them to post letters with :) But I find that trying to be less "psychotic" about shrink wrappage makes life easier :) After all, i...

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

Good point Tawmis, as a collector, to buy for the sake of pure collection (and not to play) then its a "horrible" feeling to unwrap the shrink wrap. The enjoyment would be to have it on display and to just "know that you have it". The enjoyment is not from playing it. However, I'...

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

These "shrink wrapped" titles that people are buying, are they original factory shrink wrapped, or do people shrink wrap it themselves, to make it look like original?
I'm just a bit sceptical that theres so many titles available still shrink wrapped.

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

Hi Tawmis, Yeah, Tandy1000 is quite an old machine :) Ok, so today, I came across this 'Sierra' title. Got it for about 0.50$ so I couldn't really resist, even though I don't consider it to really be worth anything and not even a proper Sierra Larry adventure game as we know it. (Haven't played it y...

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

Happened across eBay auction for the original Hero's Quest. This box is quite special, its complete and the original owner had problems with some of the disks, which Sierra changed for him. Letter from Sierra included too, nice bit of history. The box is unfortunately warped, because all the extra i...

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

Hmmm Rudy, thats quite interesting info there. I thought US and EU versions were always the same in software, but sometimes not the box/contents. I haven't played them (Phantasmagoria - Police Quest IV - GB 2) yet at all, theres only a few Sierra games I still haven't played, am savouring them for y...

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)

Thanks Tawmis, am especially pleased about Dagger of Amon Ra. Now I just need to find Colonels Bequest from somewhere.

Yeah, I agree Collector. The 'classic' Sierra are really the best (and only things I'm after for collecting)
