GK1 Voice Audio Popping
I've seen this problem talked about elsewhere and I've gone through the different suggestions to solve it (most of them from Collector) but I can't get the voice audio to stop popping. It's weird because many of the pops happen in the same place in the audio files, like in the first room looking at ...

Re: No voice - LSL6
Just FYI, the resource.cfg file in the installer you have for LSL6 still seems to have these issues. I had to manually alter it to get the voices and sound effects to run. Of course I run my games on Mac OSX, so I had to alter them anyway because I install on a PC and then move the files to the Mac ...

Re: KQ5 Alternate Music Tracks
Wow, totally missed that. Excellent! Thanks!
So Seibert has a degree in classical guitar? I also saw on his site that Al Lowe wrote the LSL theme. Some talented guys to write the music *and* do all that programming.
Me, my programming skills end at getting a game to work in DOSBox.

Re: KQ5 Alternate Music Tracks
Interesting. The DOS versions of the Willow theme (and the motivic fragments in other scenes) all start on the root, while the Windows versions start on the third with an inverted line. I always loved that theme from the dark forest and have been meaning to transcribe it for years. Thanks for postin...

Re: Optimizing Sierra Games for DOSBox
EDIT: Nevermind! I found the Preference file that needed to be changed and now have the polyphonic sound in my old AGI games!

Optimizing Sierra Games for DOSBox
I've been searching the help pages but I can't find anything about what the optimum settings are for running Sierra games. What I mean are things like the different machine types that can be used (svga_3, tandy, etc.) How do I know if I'm getting the best possible sound out of the games, especially ...

Re: King's Quest IV AGI
Discussion about abandonware here is allowed, but please, no direct linking. That said, I just got another copy of KQ4AGI off of eBay for $14.99. The seller, draconiansgames seems to have a few more. As pointed out by QuestCollector in another thread, the AGI version will have 3 3.5" disks and...

Re: King's Quest IV AGI
From all of the sites I've been to it looks like the first installment of each of the Quest series is downloadable (KQ1, SQ1, and PQ1 are all available at Abandonia while the rest of their respective series' aren't). I'm guessing this is because all three of those have remakes included in their coll...

King's Quest IV AGI
So I'm trying not to make this a "hey duz any1 have teh KQ4 agi downloadz" kind of thing, but at this point I guess that's where I am. The thing is I do own AGI and SCI copies of KQ4. Tucked away in a storage unit are Apple IIe and Amiga versions of the game (along with just about every ot...

Re: I Just Want To Play KQ7 on a Mac OSX
Ok I reverted the "PATCHES" folder back to strictly the contents from the upgrade installer. Still the same two problems. :( BUT… EUREKA!! Following the same logic I realized that I had also installed your "KQ7DOSBox" pack (KQ7.BAT and RESOURCE.CFG). Well it was the RESOURCE.CFG ...

Yes! I downloaded those files and put them in the "AVI" folder as instructed. Also downloaded the patches. Thanks.

Re: I Just Want To Play KQ7 on a Mac OSX
I'm sorry, I think I wasn't clear enough. I have a Windows version of the KQ Collection, but I have already gone through the process of installing your DOS updates to allow KQ7 to be run in DOSBox. That's why I am actually able to start KQ7 and see the Sierra logo opening and the KQ7 logo (with musi...

Re: I Just Want To Play KQ7 on a Mac OSX
This happens to be a topic I am currently concerned with, so I thought I would jump in. I have literally been trying to play King's Quest 7 *for years*! Since it was first released to be exact. The old Macintosh I had as a kid when it came out just couldn't run it. I could get to the first scene and...
