Re: What are you playing now?

Just dropped in to thank Collector for his DOSBox installers. My four year-old just finished his first Sierra game today. I was showing him "Ecoquest: The Search for Cetus" on Youtube and he wanted to play the full game with voices, so I dug up the original installation CD to see if it sti...

The empty streets and missing cruise ship make that a little too perfect.

Tawmis wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2020 1:27 am What about House Six would have been your calling?

LSL2, SQ4 and LB2 just seem like a fun average selection to keep the mood light. Plus, I could listen to Gary Owens narrating SQ4 for days.

Re: So which house are you staying in and why?

My favourite selection would be in House Six.

But I would still pick House Seven, because "Island of Dr. Brain" provides randomized puzzles and the other two games would keep my kids amused.

Ha ha, thanks for this, Tawmis. If I ran a bar or night club, at least one TV would have this on loop.

Re: Question about Half-Life 2 ...

I've never played HL2 because, as a rule, I'm not all that keen on FPSs; my experience with them (Wolfenstein 3D, Doom 1, TF2) made me feel nauseous because of the constant spinning, trying to see enemies, etc. The game won't cut you any slack if you aren't accustomed to FPS mechanics. Half-Life 2 ...

Re: Leisure Suit Larry 5 (Soon to be Commentary Thread)

The last time I revisited LSL5, it was a very uncomfortable ride. Compared to the other games, it's more gross than it is funny. I restored because I realized I still had the champagne and was near the end for Patti; and thought to give it to him and see what happens - and indeed, you can get by him...

Re: Happy Advent! And...

Every company has that guy. Or maybe a few of them. Or sometimes you're that guy and everyone's too nice to let you know. :)

As far as drinking at office parties goes, I think you're in the clear as long as you stay slightly more sober than the boss.

Re: Space Quest III Box Comes Alive!

I dig the idea of animating these old boxes. Even turning some into motion posters might be a fun side-project.

Regarding 3D, I'd still rather see SQ3 get remade in VGA first (to complete the set, of course.) But it's still impressive how much effort went into designing that junk heap.

Re: Did anyone else pick up Disney+ Streaming?

Quite a bit of a line up... Day 1... 639 different things... That blew me away when I saw it a couple days ago. Despite the censorship, it's a pretty amazing library. I love that they've included all the old Medfield College movies and the whole Disney Afternoon. And I just realized most of the 20t...

Nice! We have a place like that in Vancouver called Catfe. They bring in friendly cats from the animal shelter to mingle with humans while they have coffee and lunch. And all the cats are for adoption too. I haven't been inside yet, because there's a 3-5 hour queue whenever I walk by. But I gather t...

Re: The "Too Many Games, Not Enough Time" Problem.

Definitely too many games on my end. I like picking up freebies and grabbing really cheap deals, but my daddy duties come first and I only get through a handful a year. It's the same with TV too - I have no shortage of shows to eventually catch up on.

Re: Question re: SQ series

Play all of them! It's Sierra, so take the good with the bad and see what happens. Worst case scenario, you get stuck on an exploding dynamite timer bug in one of them. As for those last two, they're always free, and I can give you my honest, unbiased opinion that they are the second greatest games ...
