Jokes on me, then, because my "walkthrough", which I keep around just in case, said that if I didn't be-friend him then I can't progress. Well---it doesn't matter anymore, since I deleted all my save games. jeesh
cheers

Jollo help...nuff said
Need to start over...I've reached near the end, but I didn't make friends with Jollo? besides saying "argh", is there anything else I need to know? Is there any other restart-pitfall in this game, after Jollo? I think this same thing happened to me when I was a kid. It seemed as mystifying...

Re: KQ6-vista-getting it to run in 256 colors
To collector, editing the .config file, in the kings quest vi folder, with the additional code, totally fixed the problem. The skeletons in the catacombs are now white, and not purpley rainbow. And I no longer will see green inside people's mouths, as if they had eaten some kind of weird ooze. ::sig...

Re: KQ6-vista-getting it to run in 256 colors
SCumm is not going to work out, I'm afraid, because it doesn't register the saved games I already have. hmmm....
Also, I don't know if i"m running the windows or dos cersion of the game. It created a shortcut on my desktop, and that's what loads. It does use DOSBox, though.

Re: KQ6-vista-getting it to run in 256 colors
To collector:
HI! ok...I have a digital version of the game, which I bought from gog.com. I'm going to try scummvm right now....cross my fingers
the problem I've been have all game, is the graphics look wonky. The skeletons in the Minotaur cave are colored like a rainbow. It doens't look right.

KQ6-vista-getting it to run in 256 colors
I have windows vista32 and understand, from other forum posts, that KQVI will be optimal in 256 colors. However, when I tell DOSBox to run in 256 colors, it will freeze. If I change the compatibility to windows 95, or xp,or 98, and 640x480, it won't work. I have thought that running it in 320x220 co...
