Re: The Sierra Help Pages on its own domain!
Jafa, is that in relation to the Sierra Gateway idea? Or is it something different? Not sure what other ideas are going around... just figured it would be a good idea to back up the old forums before they closed (with the idea of importing into the sierrahelp forum). I am completely open to ideas...

Re: For jafa: KQ6
Hi, Took a quick look... It is a NE file format so objdump won't open it. I had to extract the code segments and objcopy then into a PE format. It is pure 16-bit code. Yick. The first code segment is mostly 16-bit windows, but with a few DOS ints and one BIOS int (Equipment Determination). If it has...

Re: For Tawm - Lighthouse CD-less play
I suspect that they might try something similar to what Apple did for backwards compatibility for OSX with "Classic Mode". A full blown virtualizer with OS9 loaded in it. There will need to be some method to run XP/Vista applications... the SquirtTheCat and DOSBox versions should still wo...

Re: For Tawm - Lighthouse CD-less play
They are saying that Windows 7 will break just about all backwards compatibility. It is supposedly dropping legacy support. It will not have all the old DLLs. According to most sources you will need to get all new apps. This may be ultimate reason that Microsoft bought Virtual PC from Connectix. I ...

Re: For Tawm - Lighthouse CD-less play
I know that jafa has made his Lighthouse installer, but the Windows version may not work with Windows 7 Hi, What is the expected incompatibility with Windows 7? The game is 100% native 32-bit for XP/Vista and will run on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. I test each game on Vista x64 as part of the r...

Re: Lords of the Realm 2 - development
I have not heard of Command Aces of the Deep... will see if I can find it. KQ6 is a Windows 3.1 game which makes it a lot harder. 1) The executable is a 16-bit seg-offs style. 2) Would need to emulate all Win 3.1 APIs that the game uses. The documentation for these APIs is not on the MS website. Slo...

Re: Lighthouse LITEPT2A (or similar) patch - German?
What is the version # of the German game? It may already be patched. Often localized versions of the Sierra games were later versions since they were usually released later. Version file on the German CD reports "1.0c" (same as the English CD). The game itself does not have the highlight ...
