Re: KryoFlux Owners

That's cool that your program is able to extract from IMG files and can detect the interpreter and version number.

Can it provide those functions independently of imaging a disk - in other words, can it operate on existing IMG files?

Re: KryoFlux Owners

So I have a setup and it seems to be working. Attempted an Amiga game, unfortunately I ran into bad sectors. (Also "unknown" sectors?) I see the AmigaDOS ADF and Apple DOS profiles, but I'm unsure which profile to use for PC Jr and PC disks... and what to do when I have an unknown disk abo...

Re: Data Preservation & Imaging Diskettes

Thanks for the great detailed tutorial, Andrew! Unfortunately, I lack the mechanical expertise and tools (soldering, working with sheet metal, etc) to copy this compact setup you've put together - for a computer boy of the 80s it's horrible, I know! - so I'll need to seek another solution for settin...

Re: Data Preservation & Imaging Diskettes

If anyone can recommend a specific enclosure with power supply for creating a setup similar to Andrew's, I'd very much appreciate it!

Re: Introduce Yourself!

I just noticed my rank is "Al who?"

I guess I don't post very much :)

That's sad :( No Sierra fan deserves that rank! I can't imagine anyone here saying that!

Forum Width

If you make your browser width too small - but "too small" is really a fairly reasonable size - the post layouts start to get wonky.

Re: Quest For Glory V Won't Start

Hrm, strange... Well, thanks for the troubleshooting efforts guys. My XP machine is a clean and minimal install from some time ago with very little crap. I updated to SP3 and then took it off the internet, and pretty much the only stuff I have installed on it is Photoshop and a few Sierra games, and...

Re: Quest For Glory V Won't Start

Thanks for your help as well Tawmis :)

I actually don't own most of the GOG collections, as I generally have multiple versions of the originals. I should pick it up the next time they have a sale :P

Oh yeah, that's one of my legacy machines for various reasons. Not connected to internet. My primary machine is Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

Re: Quest For Glory V Won't Start

Thanks for trying to help Collector!

It's absolutely a Core 2 Duo. It's real hardware, no emulation. I installed Framework 4. I did not move the game - or touch any of the game files - after it was installed.

Re: Quest For Glory V Won't Start

I was about to ask what the diagnostic was - well, that's just brilliant :) The reason I hoped to load it on my XP machine (or even my 98 machine, if I have to, although I don't have a sound card in that one) is that I wanted the original experience full screen on a CRT, and my XP machine is just th...

Re: Quest For Glory V Won't Start

I am trying to run QFGV on Win XP SP 3, a 3 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo machine with a CRT monitor. Any suggestions? I used the installer from this site to install the game from my original CDs. (By the way, a tip for the installer. It could prompt the user for "Install CD" rather than QFGV CD an...

Re: Rebuilding Sierra Websites

Yeah, the sites can appear pretty good until you start to dig deeper. There are images on sub-pages and popups and all kinds of things missing. I think the Gabriel Knight site is the most complete of the three sites, but it's still missing stuff too. HTML from the 90s :P And you don't notice things ...

Re: Rebuilding Sierra Websites

Yeah, I'm missing a lot :(

Unfortunately, right now I only have the stuff that was on the Wayback Machine. I don't have personal archives of those websites from back when they were actually up.

Rebuilding Sierra Websites

Hey everyone, I'm hoping that some of you here might be able to help me out with a small project. As part of my ongoing Sierra archival and research efforts, I'm in the middle of rebuilding Sierra websites of note, at the moment the official Quest for Glory 5, King's Quest: Mask of Eternity and Gabr...
