Re: The answer to stop piracy? Mass censorship of the intern

I do agree that some American policies are nuts, but if foreign countries hand over their citizens, that's a fault with that own country's government, not the United States. Sure, the US can ask (even demand) someone be extradited, but the foreign country in question has absolutely no obligation to...

Re: The answer to stop piracy? Mass censorship of the intern

One can certainly argue that but what still stands is that the European Parliament has had no access to this mandate while the EP is there to represent the citizens. Moreover, it could potentially limit access to generic drugs for developing countries, what ACTA does is treat a generic drug for whic...

Re: The answer to stop piracy? Mass censorship of the intern

SOPA may be beaten but its scarier big brother has arrived; ACTA and its global this time. http://www.edri.org/ACTAbooklets https://www.eff.org/issues/acta Its a terrible proposal which has naturally already been signed by most of the participating countries and even worse all the negotiations have ...

Re: The Brainless Box (aka Television Shows)

Tim Kring's name anywhere near the project is a big strike against it in my book. =P

I share the love for HBO, though I still hate them a little for cancelling Deadwood. =P

My current favourite tv is Justified. Not only is it quality but getting to look at Timothy Olyphant is no hardship.

Re: The Brainless Box (aka Television Shows)

Don't know if anyone here also watched Spartacus:Blood and Sand (surprisingly awesome and engaging after the appalling first two episodes) Anyway, I was totally gutted to read that the star of the show, Andy Whitfield has passed away at 39 due to non-Hodgkins lymphoma. :( http://geek-news.mtv.com/20...

Re: Break The Spine.

not so much breaking the spine as pushing play, I just finished the audiobook of I Shall Wear Midnight, the latest Tiffany Aching novel by Terry Pratchett. In short, the story is grand and the reading by Stephen Briggs is fantastic. The book is marketed as a YA book but I enjoyed it very much and ho...

Re: The Hobbit to begin filming in February

Isn't that totally the same actor as Gowron on TNG? Are you referring to the dude playing Thorin? If so, Richard Armitrage never was on Star Trek as far as I know. He seems to be making it big in the States now (he's playing a baddie in Captain America) but he's been relatively well known in the UK...

full trailer. Its still somewhat Uncanny Valley for me but it does look a lot better. I loved the comics as a kid and it looks like they got the humour and action part down.

Awesome people involved but I'm not a fan of this kind of computer animation, too uncanny valley for me.

Re: X-Men: First Class (Movie)

If you need your X-Men movie to be compliant with comic book canon, no don't go there. If you need your X-Men movie to fit in with the other movies, don't bother. Some elements do, some really don't. However, if like me you don't really care about that. Give it a fair shot. I for one, loved it. Its ...

Re: The Hobbit to begin filming in February

Pie maker! How had I not realized before that Lee Pace has been cast as Thranduil http://www.theonering.net/torwp/the-hobbit/cast/lee-pace/ Pushing Daisies was the tv show of my heart and The Fall is one of my favourite movies ever. I was looking at the cast list and damn, it includes so many actors...

Re: The Hobbit to begin filming in February

http://www.slashfilm.com/benedict-cumberbatch-joins-the-hobbit/ In another bit of casting. The entire main cast of Sherlock has now been cast on The Hobbit. Benedict Cumberbatch is the latest in the long line of casting for this project. By the way, I still think the man has the greatest name ...
