Re: Sierra Online video catalogue (VERY cheesy!)

I especially like the little Police Quest 2 sketch... the actors and everything about it is so damn 80s, it's great

Re: MT-32 Buffer Overflow and Checksum Errors

I'll try that. The thing is I'm unfamiliar with what a SVN build is, but I'll google it :)

Re: MT-32 Buffer Overflow and Checksum Errors

Yes, I have been using those already (to slow DOSBox down to avoid the error and then speed it up again after the game is running)... my question is - does increasing the speed after having had it set low to avoid the error while loading... does that cause any problems? Or is the loading part the on...

Sierra Online video catalogue (VERY cheesy!)

First off - I wasn't sure where to post this thread, didn't seem right to post it in any game specific forum considering how these videos feature several different Sierra games... please feel free to move the thread to wherever you think is the most appropriate. Posted this thread on the Telltale fo...

Re: MT-32 Buffer Overflow and Checksum Errors

Seeing as this thread has both Checksum Errors and Buffer Overflow in the title, I figured I might as well post this question here - In some games, such as Dagger of Amon Ra, I get a Buffer Overflow error while loading the game if I have the cycles set at a level where the game runs as quickly as I ...

Re: MT-32 Buffer Overflow and Checksum Errors

Thanks for the explanation, that helped a lot... gave me the idea to google for apps to record whatever is going in through the Line-In port... found a simple little app which seems to do that perfectly. As you pointed out though - the problem might be to sync the video and the audio 100% correctly ...

Re: Real MT32, not being 'programmed' - using default sounds

I've been using the MT32 quite a bit the last few days here, and there are a few things I'm wondering about - The volume in many games seems quite low (even when I set the in-game volume to max)... and I have to crank up my amplifier quite a bit compared to how I have it set normally. Is this normal...

Re: GREY MATTER (News and Potential Spoilers Within!)

Yes, obviously, I'm not trying to defend the horrible way this game has been published. It's a shame, too... obviously they must have lost quite a few potential sales by the lousy way this has been handled, and should this mean the end of adventure games designed by Jane Jensen, then that would make...

Re: GREY MATTER (News and Potential Spoilers Within!)

That does suck, the distribution of the game in general appears to me to have been somewhat of a disaster.

That said, $29.99 isn't really *that* bad of a price, in my opinion... I'd say it's definitely worth that.

Re: MT-32 Buffer Overflow and Checksum Errors

Thanks, that's a very interesting read! I haven't been following MT32 emulation closely at all, all I knew was it's not very good so far. Emulation was my first encounter with anything MT32 though... back when I first heard of the thing (I had no idea what an MT32 even was for the longest time, lear...

Re: GREY MATTER (News and Potential Spoilers Within!)

Ah I see. It's easy to forget people might actually be busy, seeing as the last year or so I've had much more time than I'd like on my hands :)

Re: GREY MATTER (News and Potential Spoilers Within!)

So Collector, did you finish the game yet? A bit curious how you feel about this game, I think it's very interesting to hear what people heavily interested in classic adventure games think about this one. Honestly, I'm not sure myself... while I did enjoy it, I did not enjoy it as much as I thought ...

Re: MT-32 Buffer Overflow and Checksum Errors

I actually already do have a cable connecting my MT32 to my soundcard (so I get the sound out of my nice speaker setup here)... but when I try recording a game in DOSBox, the resulting video has no music whatsoever? Seems DOSBox can't record the music produced by the MT32... I know very (!) little a...

Re: MT-32 Buffer Overflow and Checksum Errors

I agree with the people you mention there making awesome music, despite only having heard most of it using adlib (so far). I've always had a soft spot for Seibert, especially... but they're all good. Jan Hammer I like because of how he seemingly creates a lot of quite cheesy (but still awesome!) mus...
