Re: What are you playing now?
In preparation for Mortal Kombat 11, tonight I loaded up MKX - started from the start of the story and just beat it.
(Yes, I also realize I may be the only person who enjoys Mortal Kombat on here)

Re: What are you playing now?
No, you're not. I loved MK9. I still haven't played MKX at all. I need to get on that. I was wary of getting the PC port because of issues. The cutscenes on MK9 are atrocious on PC. They look much better on PS3. I don't have a PS4, so I'm not getting MKX on console. I'll get it at some point...
On a similar note, I was very let down that Street Fighter V didn't have the attention put into it in a story mode like MK9 did. It's too bad because its soundtrack is amazing. To be clear, I've never been into Street Fighter, but I thought SFV might change that...

Re: What are you playing now?
Yeah, I play MK on console (XBOX One). I am more than sure I probably don't have the MHz or the graphics card to support games with big cut scenes. I just got Witcher 3 from GoG, and my MHz and Graphics card are just under the requirements, so I can play The Witcher, but I have to have all the settings on as LOW as possible (if I want it at native resolution/full screen).MusicallyInspired wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 8:41 am No, you're not. Soul Calibur V is probably the next game I will return to (the custom character creation is pretty fun) and it had an interesting story, so far.

Re: What are you playing now?
Well, the cutscenes on the PC port of MK9 were highly (badly) compressed prerendered videos. I don't know if MKX's were prerendered as well, but they likely were. I would have assumed the MK9 PS3 cutscenes were also prerendered. But given how much better the PS4's graphics are than PS3's, it's possible they're fully rendered. Either way, apparently netcode on both PC ports are trash, which was the bulk of the complaints. But I wouldn't play online anyway. I've got Smash for that.
Are there any cool exclusive guest cameo characters in SCV based on console? I remember that was always a thing in past games.

Re: What are you playing now?
Just checked, and sure enough, I have Street Fighter V. I was into Street Fighter back when "everyone" was with Street Fighter II and III. (Once they introduced Dan, I was even more into it - because I loved using Dan, because he was so horribly weak - intentionally so - and if you happen to beat someone with Dan, it's a slap in the face!)MusicallyInspired wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 8:41 am On a similar note, I was very let down that Street Fighter V didn't have the attention put into it in a story mode like MK9 did. But I clearly didn't put a lot of time into Street Fighter V since I couldn't remember if I had it. (Even have the Deluxe Edition with the Soundtrack and everything!)
Yes, in Soul Calibur V (this is ironic, since I just said I got this game) - it's the guy from Witcher.MusicallyInspired wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 1:41 pm Are there any cool exclusive guest cameo characters in SCV based on console? I remember that was always a thing in past games.
MKX has a quite a few too (Leatherface, Jason from Friday the 13th, Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street, the Alien from Aliens, and others as well, if I remember correctly).

Re: What are you playing now?
Was the Predator in MKX? Maybe I'm thinking of something else....
Freddy Kreuger was in MK9 too. As was Kratos from God of War.

To be fair, however - I don't know how any of those play in MKX, as I didn't buy the DLCs for those.
(There's a few other MKX characters they introduced that require a DLC to play them; such as Tremor (new), Goro, etc)

Re: What are you playing now?
Hmm. I haven't played any Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter since MK1 and SF2. Did I miss anything, or did it just get even sillier?
On the other hand, I did watch the "Street Fighter" movie one night, when there was nothing better on TV. Now there is a waste of two-hours-odd. But then, I wasn't expecting anything deep ...

Re: What are you playing now?
MK definitely changed over the years. The fatalities got much more bloodier (as graphics improved), and they eventually introduced "X-Ray" moves.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 7:30 am Hmm. I don't feel like Street Fighter changed really, other than adding more characters, and the graphics improving to a more cartoonish/animated look.

Re: What are you playing now?
Though, I hear they're removing X-Ray moves in MK11. Replacing it with "Fatal Blows". Animations, but without the slowing down and the X-Ray effect. I guess people complained that it slowed down the pacing too much.

Re: What are you playing now?
Bah, I thought it was pretty fun. It's not like you _had_ to do the XRAY moves. You could keep just doing your own regular moves.MusicallyInspired wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 10:58 am Though, I hear they're removing X-Ray moves in MK11. Replacing it with "Fatal Blows". I guess if your enemy is doing it; but in order to do it, you have to build up the energy for it. If your enemy is able to do more than one _MAYBE_ two XRAY moves per round, then you (not you, specifically, MI ) need to improve your game on taking them down faster.

Awesome!! We had that game when it first came out but never was able to play it! There was some bug that made it crash on our Tandy during the intro. Back then we couldn't google what was wrong. Did you like it generally? Did it have a good story? And was it more combatty than adventurey?Semi-Happy Partygoer wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 6:04 amAnd I completed it today! But I've now gotten farther than I ever did before, so maybe I'll finally see it through.
