Qfg original painted art

Post by Chixdiggit »

Heyo,

I know there was an art book planned with scans of original Sierra art (which fell through?) and the Coles had a bunch of qfg4 paintings they gave away as backings for Hero U. Is there an archive of good scans of paintings from qfg1 vga, qfg3 and qfg4? I did find an archive, probably here, of art from Kings Quest 6. But that's not qfg :)

There were a couple paintings from qfg1 vga which I purchased on eBay after Oakhurst closed, that were unfortunately incinerated in a house fire last year. [The interior of the sheriff's house and Brauggi's cave exterior.] Sorry guys. RIP. Not the only things valuable lost, and not the only things irreplaceable, but the only things culturally notable.

An old digital pic of the two exists that I'll try to resurrect, but I'm not sure it's even at a resolution besting the original game.

... It looks like this one is in a matte that someone added. I never framed mine or anything. The ones I got had a flat plastic cel stuck on top when I bought it, I suppose for photography purposes? I removed them and felt so guilty when a couple blobs of color came off with them. Oh well, they're burned up now.

Back in 1998 or whenever, a dumpster diver (or possible former employee, contractor, garbage-man, etc) had a bunch of paintings to sell on eBay. I remember the view of the front gate of Spielberg castle was auctioning at the same time, but I felt guilty bidding against someone with a username like "CoreyCole01" lol

You are thinking of "The Art of Sierra" and the three principles involved just disappeared from the community. I had known two of the people well before the project had been started. Not that it was a scam since there was no money. They had been loaned a lot of the original artwork (most of which had been returned after scanning) for scanning and they had bought professional grade large scanner. They had labored at it for several years and I suspect that it became overwhelming. I would not expect to see anything more come of the project.

That is a shame but not unexpected, since one asked to borrow the paintings I had but I never heard back.

Everyone feel free to post your qfg painted backgrounds here.

I didn't have any QFG ones; but I had two KQ5 ones. Where they are, who knows. During one of my moves, I lost a few of my Sierra collectables.
