The Classics In Collections.

Things like Leisure Suit Larry, King's Quest and Space Quest have been bundled in so many "Collections" - is there anywhere on here where one can see the various box covers for these collections?

So when someone says (this is what inspired it) "Pick up the 1997 Space Quest Collection - it's the best one" - someone can look to see WHICH one that was?

I've tried to do some of that at SierraVault and will improve on it at Sierra Gamers.

If you scroll down to the bottom I've included the various collections and done my best to at least include the date. The same thing is done on the other Quest game pages. It isn't perfect or complete, but it's probably close enough to do what you are asking.

There used to be a sierra-collector.com website which had every single Sierra game in a database with a picture for every one. But it's gone now. Was a great site for detailed information.

And a shame about that other site... I know the one you speak of. With the menu on the left right? Had the clips of several games for the title bar thing... It kills me when good sites like that go down... because really - just reach out and I'd be MORE than happy to host on the LSL forum. I hate seeing such hard work gone to waste.

Of course each game entry on SHP has a box scan, including the collections. Just click on the thumbnail for a larger image. Identification is part of the reason that I include a box shot of at least the most common box for that collection.

Also,

I put together a PDF document when I built SierraVault that was my "map", so to speak. I put that document up but it's kinda hidden on the site.

Again, no claim to it being perfect but it's close.

Yeah, no. Sierra-collector.com had an insane amount of attention to detail for every single Sierra-related product up until the year 1999. All the different game versions, releases, box covers, screenshots, videos, every possible thing you can think of. It was an amazing site. I remember when the guy put it online and posted it on a Sierra board somewhere (vintage-sierra I think). But sadly I guess he wasn't able to keep it up for long.

Sierra-collector relied heavily on the use of a database, so unless the WayBackMachine also archives databases it might not even work. Worth a shot though as soon as it gets back up on its feet.

Here's a scan of the 1997 Collector's Series Space Quest box art. There are two versions. A wide one with a flap that opens up and a normal shaped one that you apparently could usually only get from Sierra's online store. I've got the wide one. Unfortunately, my mother through out some of my game boxes ages ago and all I have left is the flap from the cover .

Here's a scan of the 1997 Collector's Series Space Quest box art. There are two versions. A wide one with a flap that opens up and a normal shaped one that you apparently could usually only get from Sierra's online store.

The one with the flap is the US release. The regular box is the UK release.
