Not a Disney game, not Mother Goose. dotkel, you're right for it to be too dark, although the game itself is not dark - just that scene is very shaded. Hint: if you look closely below the roots, you can see something which hints of what element the bottom half of the thumbnail consists of.

The 'thing' was the reflection, therefore, he's sitting in a body of water. So now you have a few good hints. Water, roots, green, plants, etc...
