Maybe a silly question but...
Does DOSBox work under 64 bit windows? From what I read, I'm guessing it won't. I'm about to buy a new computer and install Win7 64 bit on it. So I'd prefer, of course, that it would work under it. If it won't, I'll just dual boot with 32 bit XP. But I'd like to know before setting up the computer since that will help me decide which OS to install 1st, setting up partitions, etc.

Yup! I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, and it works like a charm. My Sierra games run perfectly using Collector's new installers...better, in fact, than they ever did on a Win98 machine with CPUkiller.

You're welcome! One caveat: you won't be able to run the Windows versions of Kq6 and Phantasmagoria 2, though the DOS versions will still install and run just fine in DOS Box. Not a big deal, I would imagine, but just FYI...
Re: Maybe a silly question but...
You can play the Windows version of Phantasmagoria 2 on Win64 with jafa's StC installer. Outside of the Windows version of KQ6, Shivers 1 and Mixed-up Mother Goose Deluxe are about the only SCI games that you will not be able to play without an earlier version of Windows in an emulator/virtualizer. QfG5 can be installed on 64-bit, but the official patch can't. I do have a 64-bit friendly version of the patch that I made.

Thank you for the detailed info I'm kinda leaning towards going ahead and setting up a partition for x86 XP. I might try to use the virtual XP available for win 7. But I think in the long run, it would be less complicated to have an actual dual boot setup.
Again, thank you all for the great info!

The Win version of KQ5 is not that much different than the DOS.

Other than a General MIDI driver and a couple alternate music tracks, no. But does it work in Win 7 as well or not?

Obviously not in Win7 64-bit, but I would imagine it would in 32-bit, if the graphics mode was set to 640x480, 256 colors.
