It fixes a couple of issues with the original patch. To force the display of the subtitles it set the language to something besides English. This made a couple of things in-game to not use English. For example:

Also, the prologue had lost the non-interlacing, which has now been fixed. Since the saves from the unpatched game are not compatible with the subtitle patched game, the installer will detect existing save games in the folder and give you an opportunity to back them up before applying the patch. When the patch is uninstalled, it will give you the opportunity to save the patch save games and will restore the original save games.
Anyone that is ready to play GK2 again, please give this a try. Make sure that something else didn't get broken in the process.
