Ken Williams thinks so. As he has said, He considers anything that he had a hand in bringing to market as a Sierra game.

Ahhh. See, learn something new every day.
I didn't know about that, or that quote. I thought he was more or less out of things by the time Half-Life came around. I, personally, have Half-Life and all its expansions installed under the Sierra folder....
I even have Half-Life 2 installed there, which certainly is NOT a Sierra game. I dunno why. Maybe because as it says below my mane, I really AM a Sierra lover.

The irony is - apparently in posting - you past the "Sierra Lover" title into a new one.

When Half-Life 2 was first released it was published by Sierra. I still have the box with the Sierra logo on it.

I remember there were 3 collectible boxes. One with Freeman's face, one with GMan's face, and one with Alyx's face. I originally bought the GMan face and immediately regretted it. Luckily, one of the discs was unreadable so I returned it and got the Freeman face box as a replacement.

I totally forgot that Sierra DID publish Half-Life 2. That was right around the time of the regime change, wasnt it? I have the Collector's Edition of HL2, in the big huge box with all 3 faces on it. Came with a shirt that I wear all the time. Its slimming. LOL
If I had got one of the regular editions, it totally would have been the G-Man one. XD

Either way, I have always been unsure if the Half-Life games are trully "Sierra" games. I mean, having the name on the box doesn't always mean alot, specially when it comes to publishers. It's a bit different than having their name on a King's Quest or Quest for Glory game. It's usually the devs I pay attention too, and Valve was never trully part of Sierra, I don't think. Like when I got Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, it wanted me to install under UbiSoft, but instead I put it under Arkane Studios, alongside Arx Fatalis. Heh. I suppose Im just anal about that kind of thing.

For the record, I have 3 fave shirts....
My Half-Life 2 one, which I got with the Collector's Edition
My Quake IV shirt, which I got with the Collector's Edition of that game
and my Nero Wolfe shirt, which I got with my DVD set of the A&E TV show.

All things considered, those were damn expensive shirts.

Half-Life 2 was released in 2004. Ken was long gone. Shortly afterwards Valve sued Sierra for something or other and won and published their own games for a while until they made a deal with EA.

I don't consider HL2 a Sierra game at all. It was merely a publisher and retail distributor. HL1 I guess I consider slightly consider a Sierra game but it was still totally developed by Valve so it's not like Sierra did anything in-house with it. Generally I consider them all solely Valve games.

Darn, I have the A&E DVD and I didn't get a shirt. Must have been a limited edition.
I'm re-reading the Nero Wolfe books now. The writing is so great, and the A&E version follows the books pretty well, unlike some other incarnations of the character.

I know all about the lawsuit. Don't know exactly when Ken left though. That was roughly the real death of the company though. So yeah. Yet I still installed Steam and Half-Life 2 under "Sierra" in his honor.... or something.

I bought the Nero Wolfe DVDs from A&E.com before they were available from retail outlets. I got the shirt with season 2....
Season 1 got me this:

Interesting news too...

I read about that, he was a good actor, he fit my image of Nero Wolfe exactly.
