I've tried running in a window by use of your resolution utility, but it always goes into fullscreen instead. Tried adjusting the registry. Fullscreen was set to 0 under the Engine section. Is 1 fullscreen while 0 is window? All I can think of is to use a command line option for the shortcut. I don't know the window command (if there is one), but I have tried -window and windowed to no avail.
I even located a registry entry at HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WoW6432Node\GoG.com\GOGGABRIELKNIGHT3 with a "MAXIMIZED" string like that had "max" as the value. Tried deleting it to match some of the other GOG game entries, but it did nothing, and I restored it.
I finally got it to run in window mode by changing the desktop color depth to 16-bit instead of 32-bit. I tested both the "Primary Display Driver" and "Software Renderer" settings with 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768, but nothing changed with the laptop. I also attempted the "ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series" option, but it crashed the game (never does that in 32-bit), and upon restarting it was in full screen mode. Changing the renderer to Primary Display Driver while in-game put me back into window mode again.
So, no dice.
(The WinXP computer downstairs will be available later, and I shall try window mode with it when I can.)

Nothing special, just an ATI HD 3400, but I am using the 10.7 Catalyst drivers on Win7 64.Dion wrote:I tried setting it to all resolutions. nothing works.. the email is the only thing I cant access. I'm wondering if its a driver issue with ATI and Nvidia. What video card are you using collector?
It does need to be in 16-bit color to run in windowed mode. I also got a crash when selecting Radeon display instead of default or software, but upon restarting, the display for the email was correct, at least as long as I didn't go over 800x600. Did you try updating your driver to 10.7.Doppelgamer wrote:I finally got it to run in window mode by changing the desktop color depth to 16-bit instead of 32-bit. Yes, I've tried GK3 with every version since 10.1 I believe.Collector wrote:Did you try updating your driver to 10.7.
Re: GK3 - E-mail Issues
I looked back at your earlier post and outside of a higher end card, the only other difference that I noticed is that you are running DirectX 9.0b and I have DirectX 9.0c. At this point I am just grasping at straws, but try updating your DirectX 9.

Ah, that would be a typo. 9.0c & 11 are what I have installed. I shall reinstall 9.0c to be on the safe side, however.Collector wrote:I looked back at your earlier post and outside of a higher end card, the only other difference that I noticed is that you are running DirectX 9.0b and I have DirectX 9.0c. Edit: No change.

Did you try software render, windowed mode after updating the DirectX 9?

Yes, all modes were tested. I'm looking into borrowing a copy from someone. Perhaps a non-GOG version may change things for me. Who knows?
Re: GK3 - E-mail Issues
I am using the Sierra released CDs. I can't say what GOG did for their release. GOG has used some of my installers (without credit) to prepare a couple of their releases, but I don't think they used the GK3 installer. The only GOG game I have is GK2, which had a lot of problems until they used my configurations for it.

I'm also using the retail cd's with collectors installer.. Don't think it matters which copy it is.. Although if you bought the GOG copy it should work since they promise it will run fine.

Re: GK3 - E-mail Issues
The issue has been solved for me. A fellow at the GOG forums mentioned one of Paul's save games, which are available for download. Some weeks ago, I had downloaded the Day 3 - 12pm to 3pm save from his list, but had not the chance to test it due to vacation.
The GOG user Allukka, loaded this save game, checked the e-mail on the computer using that save, and then loaded his old save which was previously encountering this issue. The laptop e-mail issues were gone! I attempted this, and while it did work in Paul's save, it did not in mine. It did however, alter how the laptop looked. I decided to try another save. After loading Paul's, I attempted one of mine, which was saved at the beginning of the chapter. (As with Paul's save, this save had the Day, time, and so forth displayed, and was not saved during actual gameplay.) It worked! Sidney's e-mail function displayed perfectly!
I was running in a 1024x768 window, 16-bit graphics at the time. You can view the GOG Thread here.
