Install Earthsiege 1 Expansion Pack

Post by hlidskialf »

Hello there,

I've found the expansion pack for Earthsiege under the following link from this site:
http://www.sierrahelp.com/Misc/GameAddo ... eExpansion

and want to install it, but there is problem. I tried to install it via DOSBox and it works fine until the install setup ask for the "Disk 2".
I mounted a cdrom drive in DOSBox with the line

mount d o:\ -t cdrom

but when I insert the Disk 2 and tried to continue the installation, the dialog "please insert the disk labeled with 'Disk 2' " doesn't disappear.
What is my mistake and can anybody tell me how I can install the expansion pack?

Press Ctrl+F4 to refresh the drive cache.

Hi Collector,

I tried to refresh the drive cache, but it doesn't work. The dialog (screenshot) do not dissappear. =/
Do you have any other ideas?

I tweaked the batch file and re-uploaded it. Give it a try again.

It doesn't help. =/
After the "resource.000" processing it wants the disk 2.
Maybe I make mistake? I extract the files in a folder and make a iso file with CDBurnerXP.
Than I insert the iso in my virtual drive (o: letter in windows) mount a cdrom drive (e: letter in DOSBox) in DOSBox and normally start the install batch from the cd.
It works fine until it wants to extract the "resource.001" file.
Maybe it needs more parameters in the mounting step?

No need to mess around with a CD. Just mount the unzipped folder as a floppy.

I'll have to take a look at it, but it may be a while before I can do much with it.

No, it is because he was mounting the content of all three as a single disc (CD). They were intended to be copied to three floppies. He should have been mounting the first as a floppy, swapped the contents of the folder with the 2nd and refresh the drive cache when prompted for the 2nd disk, swapped and refreshed with the third when prompted.

Anyway, I have adapted it to modern usage. Just unzip to a folder, mount that folder as "A:\" and run the install. Just make sure that ES is already installed in a folder of SIERRA\MTECH inside of the folder mounted as C:\, first.

hlidskialf, give it one more try. Don't mess around with a CD, just mount the unzipped folder as drive "A:\".

You didn't download it again. There is no longer an English directory.

:)

Now it works! I don't see that you've upload another zip file. With this new file I can install the expansion and the prog no longer asks for a second or third disk.
Thank you very much Collector!
