I often come across old computers that are still being sold at local junk yards, second hand shops e.t.c.
These can range from various 80486 100mhz systems up to about 1GHz systems.
They cost around 100USD to 150USD per piece. Some cheaper, some more expensive (but these I avoid as they're not worth it)
As an offer (as I get the impression that USA dosent have too many of these around) to fellow Sierra lovers on this site, that I could buy them and strip them of the motherboard or other components that you may need and send these to you.
You will of course have to pay shipping fees to USA, which I'm guessing could be around 50-70USD.
I will buy it from the local junk yard and test the system to make sure the components work ok.
Often they also have other things related, such as hard drives, or sound cards e.t.c.
What do I get from this?
I keep the rest of the system which you may not need.
Such as if you only need the CPU or mainboard, then I can keep the casing or drives e.t.c
(But in case you need the whole box - I can ask for 10USD for my efforts?)
Is this something that some of you may have a want/need for?
Then you can play your old Sierra games again on a tested system and I get spare parts for my own projects?

Re: Old computers offer!
Here is probably not the best place to advertise something like this as everybody here seems to be content with playing their old games in DOSBox or ScummVM on newer systems. The best places to advertise this, I think, are either the Quest Studios boards or the VOGONS boards.
While I'm interested, I don't have the money to spare right now.

Thanks for the info.
I'm not a member at the other forums, only this one though and I like the "tone" of this forum.
No offence intended towards the creators of DOSBox e.t.c.
It was just a friendly offer..........

Thanks for offering. Under any other fiscal circumstances I might have taken you up on it...

Re: Old computers offer!
You're welcome
Oh these PC's are always around, so if a time comes when you have some pennies to spare, let me know.
Funny though, that really old systems like 80286 , 80386 are really HARD to find anymore......
