Paw's King's Quest Retrospective

Post by Datadog »

The guy who made that "Let's Play KQ5" thing I posted a while back has been doing a KQ Retrospective over on the ThatGuyWithTheGlasses site. While finding KQ game reviews on the inter-webs should be nothing new, I find Paw's videos have been reaching a larger audience and by going through the comments, I can see he's introducing lots of new gamers to Sierra games. So I figured these videos would be a good mention here if anyone's interested. He's been doing some quality work on them and has been digging up lots of old forgotten trivia.

The two he's done so far:

King's Quest 1

King's Quest 2 (There's a great sight gag at least 30 seconds into this one.)

Love it so far - watching the first video, it hits home at 3:35. When i can't convey my commands to the parser, it's all over...

King's Quest 3 is up!

(It looks like other reviewers wanted on-board with this, so expect a ton of in-jokes you probably won't get.)

Great reviews. Can't wait till he finishes. I hope he does AGDI's KQ3 remake seeing as it's out soon. I'd love to hear his impression of the soundtrack since he's a music guy...... 8-)

He mentions in the comments that he plans to do a special on all the KQ fan-games after he's finished with KQ8. I don't know if KQ3 will apply if it doesn't come out before then, but it wouldn't hurt to let him know that it's in production or send him some music samples.

Err... don't you mean MoE? All kidding aside, I wonder if he will be using the GOG release or the SHP installer.

Considering the type of fan he seems to be, he probably has both. :)

Great stuff. He forgot a few things but we can't expect everyone to be King's Quest-ologists.

I agree this guy is great with his stuff. I liked his playthrough of KQ5. My favorite KQ retrospective that he has done is KQ3 because it was funny that he was acting like he could not pronounce Gwydion or Llewdor. It was also funny that he had that Girl as his helper. The KQ4 one was good I got a good chuckle out that Genesta railings joke
