Hero's Quest 2 box image.
Hello everyone. I am a long time lurker but now want to get more active and talk to everyone here. And for my first post I have something that I hope is a first here. an image of the Hero's Quest 2 box from the 1991 Radio Shack catalog. and I wanted to give a shout out to Collector and say thank you to everyone for helping me through the years.

Re: Hero's Quest 2 box image.
That's pretty cool... Probably before they had to yank the name and change it. I don't think "Hero's Quest II" was ever published as such; but was changed to "Quest for Glory II" by that point. But what a find. That's a picture of a box that once said it... so somewhere out there, there's at least ONE box that has (had) that on it for printing.
Although it looks very weird. Maybe it's the white coloring and the font they used for the "Hero's Quest II" portion. Glad they at least changed the box color, because that white looks horrid.

I had to find this image because I remember preordering it from Radio Shack back in 1990 when I was a Junior in High School. And I was really disspointed when I recieved Quest for Glory II instead.

LOL. Ken Williams said that he always though the series would have sold better if they had been able to keep the name.galbyman wrote:I had to find this image because I remember preordering it from Radio Shack back in 1990 when I was a Junior in High School. That's true, but unfortunately the name "Hero Quest" was already licensed to Milton Bradley.
(Believe it or not, I once - many, many years ago - owned a copy of that game. 'Twas a crappy knock-off of D&D, with laughably cheesy writing).

I really liked that Here Quest, when I was a kid. Of course today a play Descent: Journeys in the Dark and it's much better!
Talk to coffee? Even Gabriel isn't that addicted!

I still have my Heros Quest board game and like 3 expansion packs. Loves that game when I was a kid.

Board James (an alias of the same guy that plays the Angry Video Game Nerd) reviews a bunch of old board games and one of the ones he did was Hero's Quest. Never watched it yet but thought that was neat.
And personally, I think Quest for Glory is a more fitting title and feels a lot more epic. Also, it reflects the difference between it and other Quest games by being an adventure/RPG hybrid.

Well I think it's because Sierra had a staple idea for their own products it seemed...MusicallyInspired wrote: And personally, I think Quest for Glory is a more fitting title and feels a lot more epic. "___________ Quest."
King's Quest.
Police Quest.
Space Quest.
And what would have been Hero's Quest.
Granted other games didn't follow that (back then) like Leisure Suit Larry. But then LSL broke all the rules anyway.

Yes, of course. I'm just saying intentional or not, the name change does reflect the difference in gameplay nicely.

Re: Hero's Quest 2 box image.
I dunno. For myself, I got it as HERO'S QUEST - and that's what I played. I liked the idea that Sierra had this "thing" for how they named their Quest games.
Of course, they branched away from it all with Quest for Glory, Gabriel Knight, Codename: Iceman, etc etc - but still thought the idea of all these games having that theme was pretty cool.
Of course, going away from that did give the game (and company) a more 'serious' feel.
