I have extracted the files from the QT3 installer and have included them in the QfG5 installer. The installer merely places them in the game's root folder, so the game will use those instead of the version installed on the system. In fact, the installer will allow the game to work, even on a PC that does not have QT installed.

Note that the installer also includes the official Sierra patch for the game. It also allows for CD-less play. It is your one stop solution for QfG5, especially for 64-bit systems.

Hrm, was the extracted files added after I applied your patch? (Like is it a new version?) Because it's with your patch that I am trying to get this blasted thing to work that's giving that Quicktime error. :? (But that was when I first downloaded the patch... dunno if you have made any new changes to it - like the aforementioned QT files).

What's odd is I found the .MOV files in the QFGV folder; and double clicked each one and my current QT plays them without a hitch. It's only when using the game, that it can't seem to work.

So this is weird.

Completely uninstalled Quicktime. Then reinstalled it (and iTunes). iTunes works fine; but when I go to my Quicktime, all the icons show up broken.

Even stranger, when I go to the properties of Quicktime... it's all blank.

But if I go to where Quicktime naturally installs, it's all there:

But if I double click that Quicktime.exe - nothing happens. Quicktime never actually opens. However, if I double click a .MOV file, say for example - the sample one in that folder, Quicktime will open and play the movie.

Not sure if that somehow ties into why Quicktime may not be working with QFGV? What's weird is - if I go back into the Quicktime properties, it won't let me change the target to find the Quicktime executable.

And this is a brand new, fresh install of Quicktime.

All the other programs (for example, iTunes, which is bundled with it) all work fine.

Well I got Quicktime to launch when it double clicks now, at least! Hooray for that.

It sounds like you had a general problem with QT. Did you use the patch or the installer?

Do you see any QT files in the game's folder? How long ago did you download it?

There were QT files, but you had me delete them. As for when I downloaded it, Aug 23, 2010 (same day I started this thread).

Let's start over. Re-download the installer and do a clean install.

Actually, found the answer on the Quest for More Glory forums:

I'm running XP SP3 myself, and I find that the QuickTime videos are quite choppy in-game. What resolves this for me is opening up the QuickTime Player advanced settings and changing the video rendering from "DirectX" to "Safe Mode (GDI)". This has obvious performance implications for regular video playback, however, so I make sure to switch back after playing QfG5.

I set both audio and video play back to "Safe Mode' - and tried it, and the game works. Might want to throw that tidbit somewhere in the QFGV section, in case others are experiencing the same error.
