Re: Kings Quest 5 Windows Version
It is supported, but only in the daily build. You have to scroll down to the bottom of the downloads page and download the daily build version of ScummVM.

Well if you're using ScummVM, you're going to have better luck checking their forums for support. Collector (or others, such as MusicallyInspired) may have some ideas, not sure.KQ Gamer wrote:The game runs with ScummVm now, but my music problem is the same!

It sounds like you have some setting on your PC that is the problem. Be sure that you can hear MIDI files with a media player and check your volume levels. Perhaps you have volumes turned down or muted for everything but DOSBox.

Re: Kings Quest 5 Windows Version
Open ScummVM, select King's Quest V WIndows Version from the game list but don't launch it. Click once to select it and then hit the "Edit Game..." button. This will open a menu. Go to the "Audio" tab and click the checkbox next to "Override global audio settings", everything that is grayed out will now be active. Next to "Music Device" is a dropdown menu. Click on it and list here everything you see there. (looks like this below)

Re: Kings Quest 5 Windows Version
Use Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth, since it sounds the most like Roland's SC-55 which is the General MIDI standard synth that Sierra games with GM support were composed for. And make sure that your MIDI volume in your volume control (if it's there, might be different if you're using Vista/7) is up and not muted.

Re: Kings Quest 5 Windows Version
That being the case, I'd advise you to play the game with Scummvm rather than without it. Although I haven't tested it, I'd imagine you'd be way more likely to avoid those fatal errors under Scummvm than you would be running it natively.

Re: Kings Quest 5 Windows Version
Yes. Also, you won't get any timer issues in ScummVM, if there are any. I can't remember if KQ5 had any or not.

Re: Kings Quest 5 Windows Version
KQ5 didn't have any timer issues. It had the heap error with the wand and the lockup near the end, both of which seems to be more an issue with the Windows version.
