Phantasmagoria 2 DOSBox installer problem

Post by RustyShackleford »

Hi Everyone,

I've installed Phantas 2 using the excellent DOSBox installer, but the game launches with 'intensity mode' enabled, and prompts for a password. I don't know what the password is and can't see a way of turning this off. I remember (if installed directly from the CD) it prompts you to enter a password. Help! :)

Note: I'm using the original Phantasmagoria 2 CDs (UK version)

Thanks
Andrew

Did you install it into your Program Files folder?

Hi Collector,

I installed it under C:\Sierra\Phantasmagoria2 (the default). I'm running Windows 7 64bit and heard that it was best to keep it out of Program Files. Thanks for your response, any other suggestions are much appreciated.

To eliminate the password delete RESDUK.PAT. To add or change the password, copy "WHAT.EXE" from the first disc to the installed folder and start the game with the shortcut in this zip.

It is the game. Start the game with "First Run.exe" the very first time you start the game. The installer is set to run the game on completion with "First Run.exe". It will set your chosen password or delete the file that stores the pass. When I get a chance, I may try to build in detection for the empty file and if found, start the game with "First Run.exe" automatically.
