The Adventures of TinTin - Secret of the Unicorn (Movie)

Post by gumby »

Finally. Steven Spielberg & Peter Jackson team up to create this movie. Apparently in the U.S. it will be released in December, but you lucky people in Europe get to experience it in October.

I want to say I'm looking forward to it because I'm such a huge Tintin fan... but I don't want to jinx it. Even with Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Andy Serkis, Stephen Moffatt, and Edgar Wright all involved... I really don't want to jinx it. This could go so right or so wrong.

Awesome people involved but I'm not a fan of this kind of computer animation, too uncanny valley for me.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of computer animation either. I'll say that I enjoyed the HBO animated series that aired about a decade ago, but as usual nothing beats the comic strip/books.

More like 20 years ago! I remember watching it on Saturday mornings as a kid, and then re-watching it a couple years back. The animated series did the books justice.

full trailer. Its still somewhat Uncanny Valley for me but it does look a lot better. I loved the comics as a kid and it looks like they got the humour and action part down.

Oh, ho, ho, ho, ho... I'm excited.

As far as mo-cap movies go, this one looks pretty awesome.

I haven't read the TinTin books since I was very young (I always liked the Asterix books better), but this looks pretty exciting. :)

When is it coming to Australia? (If ever...?) :?

Just got out of the theatre! This movie was incredible. In typical Hollywood fashion the movie deviated fairly heavily from the original story, but in a very acceptable way that borrowed from the other books.

The voices and animation of the characters was spot-on, exactly the way that I had imagined. One thing that surprised me was how true-to-form Haddock was from an alcohol-consumption standpoint - this was one thing I was sure that they would tone down.

Worth every penny of the admission price.
