Weird, odd and strange...

Post by DeadPoolX »

It's been said that "truth is stranger than fiction." I'd have to agree with that statement.

I'm sure we've all encountered some very weird news, events, places or stories. Well, I'd like to hear them! It might be fun. :D

Here's two to start off:

1. Apparently there's a law in Singapore that states urinating in elevators is illegal. Aside from the obvious strangeness of this law, I'd like to know just how many people were peeing in elevators. Was it a national problem? :?

2. Straight from the "Darwin Awards" category comes a man in eastern Europe who, for some reason, decided to play soccer with an activated land mine. Off-hand, I'd say that was a very stupid thing to do. He eventually felt so too for the brief second or two before the land mine blew up.

- an "alcohol-free area" sign next to the Bushmill's Whiskey distillery in Northern Ireland (seen it)

- A seller on eBay, offering a $5 refund if you send the item back (at $10 shipping charges), saying he's doing you a favor.

- Equity funds being obliged by law to hold at least 80% weight in shares for "the protection of the investor", while the market tumbles.

- Shops raising prices on their products because they're selling less than they used to. :?

- Banks in the US depositing cash, which they received from the FED as part of the rescue package, back on an account at the FED in order to get interest on it.

- A few days ago in Barre, Vermont, a man named Robert Paine was arrested by the cops and charged with theft. While being interrogated at the sheriff's office, he spotted a picture on the wall that he took a fancy to. And when he thought no one was looking, he snatched it. Bad idea! Someone was looking and now he has another theft charge added to his rap sheet.

- In California, animals are banned from mating publicly within 1,500 feet of a tavern, school, or place of worship.

- Sigh... I didn't know about this law, but it applies not far from where I live in Melbourne, Australia. You must have a neck to knee swimsuit in order to swim at Brighton Beach.

- Finally, according to UPI news, police in Kansas City, Mo., said attempted carjackers were forced to abort their theft when the vehicle turned out to have a manual transmission - and neither of them could drive it.

Investigators said two males, an adult and a juvenile, approached a woman sitting in her car outside of a store at about 11 p.m. Monday and one of the suspects pointed a gun at the woman, The Kansas City (Mo.) Star reported Tuesday.

The suspects ordered the woman to hand over her cell phone and exit the car, police said. However, officers said the suspects exited the car quickly after attempting to drive off because they were unable to work the manual transmission.

Police said two suspects in the crime were arrested shortly after the incident following a street robbery on the University of Missouri-Kansas City campus.
