LSL3 delete save?

I feel dumb asking this, but how do I delete saves in Leisure Suit Larry 3? And I guess this applies to any early Sierra game. I don't remember ever having a problem with doing this. I thought there was a delete button, or I thought I'd just delete the file for it in the directory, but the save entry still shows up in the game but gives an error when I try to load it.

I guess only the later games had the delete button. The list is maintained in the catalog file, LSL3SG.DIR. If you just want to clear all of the save games, delete this file, too.

I wanted to delete one particular save game file. I tried editing the .dir file, but all it did was make none of my saves work. I ended up creating a new directory and resaving the games I wanted in there.

The old games (depending at which point), only had the option to save over existing saves (if you filled it up) or create a new directory.

In the case of LSL3 - this was the case. Either save over an existing game or create a new directory.

Later games (like LSL5), actually had the button to delete save games.
