Jacques Dijon?

Feeling like this game could be murder... literally? Well, come on in here for some extra detective work (and clues/hints/etc!) for the Laura Bow games (The Colonel's Bequest and The Dagger of Amon Ra).

Jacques Dijon?

Post by Rakeesh »

This question is very special and is directed to anyone who is really into the CB plot and characters :)

The CB plot and dialogues make clear that Colonel Henri and Ethel are siblings. There is also an unseen (dead?) brother who was the husband of Gertie and father of Rudy and Gloria. We know about his existence only through the presence of Gertie (an in-law).

Now the page on the 'Crouton sidestory' (http://www.sierraplanet.com/laurabow1/croutons.html) mentions that this Dijon is named 'Jacques'. Someone also added the name of Jacques in the Colonel Bequest wiki but it was reverted.

I don't recall this name being mentioned anywhere (including some character analyses I have read), and the game does not recognise the word 'jacques' when I tried to ask about him, which is logical since he is unimportant to the plot.

I am just wondering what is the source for Jacques' name. Is it mentioned fleetingly by some character when asked about something, or if you 'look at' a certain item, something not noticeable by everyone?

I don't recall, either way. Been too long since I played.

Jules would probably know. Don't know when she'll be back on here though.

Perhaps she'll make an appearance when she gets back back from PA and before she gets buried in school again.

Could we use an SCI viewer to check out the dialogue within the game?

That answer falls outside of my knowledge of the Laura Bow series, unfortunately. :(

I skimmed through the LB1 resource files back when this topic first appeared, but I couldn't find the name Jacques Dijon mentioned anywhere in the text. I don't think it appears anywhere in the game.

Could it appear somewhere in the intro of the second game, when it recaps Laura Bow?
