That would have to be from the official patch, since my part of the patch does not include that file. I have completely removed the official patch from my patch. Download it again from the ink above. On a clean install try my patch and see if the game starts. If it does, you might try to separately apply the official patch. You may need to reapply my patch afterwards.

OK.

* Fresh install. Applied your patch. Error: "The procedure entry point ?GetString@LanguageMapper_t@@QAE?AVCString@@H@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library DX_MODULE.DLL."

Then I applied the v156 patch (http://www.fileplanet.com/160635/downlo ... tch-v.1.56) and I could start it, but it was laggy. But then I found this (http://saeedoo.wordpress.com/2010/08/21 ... windows-7/) using the Win 2000 compatibility setting, turning off 3D Acceleration, turning on single buffering...and it loaded, and it works.

So I uninstalled everything, fresh install, the 156 patch only, with the above settings...works fine.

So I guess I made you go through this exercise for no reason. I'm sorry I made you work so hard.

No problem. It is always harder to troubleshoot remotely than if you have the game in front of you. There is enough differences between the 2 disc and 4 disc versions that I really couldn't use my copy to experiment.

One note on the instructions you found, you can skip the installation of DirectX 7. Win7 ships with DirectX9c and 11. The DirectX7 install will stop when it finds DirectX 9c installed.

Yeah, I knew about DX7. Hell, I tried that and it didn't work, so I left that out of my list of things I did to make it work.
