Here =). I tried replacing the KQ7 drivers with the drivers found in the PATCH folder of the CD, but it didn't change a thing. Maybe they're the same files anyway, I have no idea.

From what I was able to determine from those files, I should be able to add support for your version. Please check your PM.

Here is a test installer. It will only work with the French version, but the installer itself is in English. there may be a couple of things missing or not quite as it should be, but give it a test. Once everything is worked out, I would like to add it to the regular KQ7 installer, but I would need some of the installer's dialogs translated into French to do so.

Oh, I just noticed you had posted this. I was just checking my PMs. Thanks a lot, I will give it a try and tell you if it works.

[Edit] It's not working. The game shuts down on its own again, but differently: the crown-shaped cursor doesn't even appear. I noticed that the DOCS and PATCHES folder are not found in my KQ7 folder anymore. However, I think the problem is caused by the SIERRA.EXE file. If I replace it with my previous one, the game loads a bit further (I get error 42: the game has not been version stamped). Here's the diagnostic log:

I didn't update the config tool for the French version. It would have been OK if you had not used it. Remember, this is just a test version. Replace the config tool with this one and run it. By the way, I have replaced the VESA driver with the one from version 2.00b. This removes the need for autolock for proper cursor control.

Thanks. There's something quite mysterious happening here. I've redone a third complete reinstall, and I can now access the game menu without even using the new conf.exe file. Pretty weird if you ask me! However, I can't watch the intro ("unable to open movie file" error) and the program shuts down when I want to continue a game. That with the new conf.exe. [Edit] Well, that's most likely because I'm trying to load a Frenglish file from the previous installation. I can create a new game and view 3D items!

Should I put something inside the patches folder? I suppose my game will crash at some point since it did back then.

The new auto-lock is great by the way ;). Oh wait, it was, but now I can't move my mouse higher than the bottom half of the screen, haha.

The disc does not include the DOS RBT movie files. I have no good solution for this. You can view the movies outside of game by playing the AVI movies in Media Player (if you have the right codec installed) or you can download the DOS movies from here, but they will be in English. My memory is that the two closing movies have no speech, so would not be language specific. My existing KQ7 installer offers to download them for you, but that installer does not yet have support for your French version.

This installer does not upgrade it to v2.00b like it does for the other versions. This preserves the French language in the game. The only patch that might be relevant is KQ7PATbut what I have here is for the English version. You could try downloading it to a PATCHES subfolder and if to causes problems you can just remove it. Please report back either way so I can update the installer accordingly.

Alright! I will try that later if my game crashes at some point. If you want me to translate the installer, just post the lines you want translated here.
Thanks a lot for all your help!!!
