Yikes. I wanted to play this game and also make a Let's Play from it. I know that not long ago I got this old stuff running on my current computer, then decided to uninstall it, and now....
First of all, I have the crappy German version for Windows 95, also coming on two CDs. Now, no matter how I want to start the setup (via autorun or setup, all kinds of compatibility mode, running as admin, 256 colors etc. or not, nothing makes a difference), the process ends up giving me a black screen which I can only eliminate by rebooting. Most annoying. Of course, with the German version, the new SHP installer wouldn't help much (besides, it puts everything in full screen mode automatically which I hate), and I fear that somehow the CD installer is corrupted.
Any suggestions? Or should I just get a new copy somewhere from Amazon USA? I have no intention to buy a new German version. Sucks!
Thanks,
Marlene

The Shivers 2 installer is one of the StC installers from jafa. He has been willing to write installers for localized versions when asked, but unfortunately, he has not been available for sometime. You could try a Virtual Machine with an older version of Windows installed.

No other suggestions?
Re: Shivers 2 - Harvest of Souls
Did you try the StC installer for the German version? If that does not work, here is a copy of the English version on eBay for US $2.99 US. I don't know if the ship internationally.

You could also look on http://www.ebay.co.uk/ . The UK version will probably work with the StC installer.
You can pick up a copy of Windows 98 Second Edition on eBay pretty cheap these days, which would be a good idea for other Windows 9x era games that refuse to run on modern Windows. Though it is not supported, you can install Windows 9x in DOSBox, but there are several free VMs that you can use, once you have a copy of Win9x. One other solution could be to setup a Linux box with WINE.

Re: Shivers 2 - Harvest of Souls
That's the Phantasmagoria 2 installer:-) I'll try to get an English copy of Shivers 2, maybe that works although I doubt it. Whenever I get this stuff running, I'll let you know. Do you have any idea when jafa will be availbable again? So maybe he could make a German installer with the option of non-full screen?
Re: Shivers 2 - Harvest of Souls
I have no idea when or if jafa will resurface. I have no email address for him, but you could try to leave him a PM on his board in case he checks the board. The way he does full screen makes it unlikely that he can make run windowed.
