After Torin I moved on to the RAMA demo and there are some problems. Under DOS (DOSBox) I can't run it since it asks for the 999.pal file
I installed it under Win 3.11 (again under DOSBox). The installer seemed to have some problems with the virtual CPU (identified it as Cyrix something) and put a mesg that it was not adequate
Nevertheless I tried to run it after the installation. All I got then was the intro screen with "Arthur Clarke and Gentry Lee present" and the 3.1 crashes. All I can do is quit the DOSBox window.
If anyone has managed to run this demo please tell me how
Running the RAMA demo
Re: Running the RAMA demo
Did you get the one from here? I just tried the DOS version and it ran without issue. About the only settings that were not the default were core (normal) and cycles (10000). What changes have you made to your conf?

Re: Running the RAMA demo
Yes it's the one from here, downloaded and unzipped to some RAMADEMO folder. I then run SIERRA.EXE and got an error message, mentioning that 999.pal is missing and other irrelevant stuff such as to check if the game CD is in (!!!!!)
Tried to run install.exe first, tried core=normal and 10000 cycles, no change.
I noticed a strange file, copyres.bat. It refers to some filenames in a folder m:\prog\pic. I don't know if they belong in the official demo or who put it there, I can't imagine who would have an m: hard disk back then.
Can you check if you have an 999.pal file in your zip?

Re: Running the RAMA demo
You didn't install it. It was a demo from a CD. Mount the folder with the unzipped demo download as a CD and mount another folder a a C drive and run INSTALL.

Re: Running the RAMA demo
Gah! That was it! There was no way for me to figure out it was supposed to be mounted! Thanks, for your time Collector
The demo looks familiar. Does anyone remember which Sierra games featured it?
