I love Gold Rush! That game should have done MUCH better.

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
I never played it, alas. I just never found it in the game shops. Can it be played on today's ultra-fast modern computers?

Got this one in a pawn shop for ~6 US$... A rather well preserved KQ3 in its grey/silver release!

I have none of the silver boxes. Would love to find them. But man, Pawn Shops just don't exist in San Diego with that type of stuff...

Seems to be King's Quest day, today... Just found in the Mail today the Grey/Silver Box of Kings Quest 1 (btw, is it normal, that only KQ2 and KQ3 as grey/silver boxes do have this flap on top of the box? Mine KQ1 doesn't...)
as well as King's Quest 4 in its AGI incarnation:

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
One of the coolest things is actually the Sierra catalogue from 1987, which came along with the grey/silver KQ1 Box. It has All three KQ's in its grey/silver layout promoted, as well as Space Quest 1 in its black box, and further ancient Software
Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
That KQ3 looks pretty pristine. Nice find. Seems like the gray boxes are usually fairly beaten up.

KQ1 grey box does not have a flap on it. No need to worry. There is a very rare clamshell Tandy release of KQ1 though. It has the same box art.

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
It arrived with some other pieces today. Indeed it seems that this one returned his SCI Version for an AGI Version. The Disk label says Version 2.0, which sounds like the Easter-Egg Version, right?Collector wrote:It sounds like it is mixed up. I believe that Tawm got a copy with both in one box. Perhaps it is from someone whose machine could not handle the high requirements of SCI, so sent the SCI disks back to Sierra in exchange for AGI replacement disks. Did you look at the contents on the disks?
Aditionally arrived
a shrink-wrapped Blue Force CD-ROM Version
a shrink-wrapped Black Cauldron
a shrink-wrapped Hoyle Book of Games Vol. 3. If I understand correctly, then the two Stickers (Rqts and Value Priced) tell me, that the Content is some real Sierra Content (no black and white photocopies, and a true sleeve/box packaging), but it is some re-release, were Slash did the Customer Support?
A shrink-wrapped early Version of Mixed-Up Mother Goose
A SCI-Release of Hero's Quest AKA Quest for Glory 1
And finally a SCI-Release of KQ1 in the golden AGI Box Release
Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
Nice haul. And yes, v2.0 is the one with the "Beam Me" Easter egg.
