Hi there!
As far as I have seen, there are 5 differently colored Kings Quest VI Boxes around (black, white, red, blue, purple). Additionally there seems to be another, slimer, white box in a different Design as some kind of Upgrade Pack.
Does anybody know the reason for these differently colored boxes? Is the content of the boxes any different? Or did they do that just for whatever Marketing purposes?
Any help?
Best wishes,
C.

Re: Kings Quest VI Boxes
I have two of the boxes - Red and Black. Both of those had the same contents in them.Constantin35 wrote:Hi there!

I am curious - if there's a specific order that the boxes came out in? (I think the Red box was one of the earlier ones, because I think that's the one I got first...?)

Good question! Rudy might know. I have the red box from when it first came out too.

My favorite is the black one, though I never owned it. I have the Multimedia/Windows CD white box version with the quote from Spear.

I knew the plain colored ones were disk versions, but I didn't know you could upgrade. Were the disk versions the only ones to include the larger-format Guidebook? I was surprised the Multimedia CD version didn't have it.
Other ones I've seen... Sierra Originals release, one shrink-wrapped in jewel case with Guidebook packaged on back and one in some kind of cardboard CD-sized booklet with Guidebook and docs inside.
I love KQ/Sierra! Current items: KQ Collector's Ed. ('94 maroon box), KQ Collection Series ('97), Roberta Anth. ('97), KQ5 CD (dark label) + Hint Book, KQ6 CD, KQ7 CD (v2), Offical Book of KQ (1st, 2nd & 3rd), KQ Companion (4th), KQ novels (1, 2 & 3)

Our copy is the white upgrade box, our dad was the one to purchase it but i suppose you got it cheaper if you could prove you owned the floppy version.
