Leisure Suit Larry 7 Crash

Post by Ernie1022 »

I have used Collectors installation programs for both Freddie Pharkas and Leisure Suit Larry 7. The installation program worked flawlessly for Freddie Pharkas. But no luck with Leisure Suit Larry 7! :x

The program begins by opening a DOS window which immediately closes. No picture, no sound, just a black DOS window with some DOS commands...can't really tell what they say, as the DOS window shuts way too quickly.

BTW, I'm running Vista 32 bit with Service Packs 1 & 2 installed. The Diagnostic Log from the Installer is attached.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as this is my favorite Larry. And I'm sure that being the last in the series (that Vivendi garbage doesn't count), I'll prolly be awhile before Replay Games gets around to a remake of Larry 7.

Thanks in advance!

Ernie

You are missing the main resource file, RESSCI.000. If your drive was having trouble reading the disc to copy it, the installer probably continued with the install when it couldn't copy it after a while. Check your disc for dirt, abrasions, scratches, etc that may make it hard to copy. You can try manually copying the file. If you continue to have trouble reading the file, try a data recovery utility like Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier. A quick Google search should turn up a download address.

Thanks for the suggestion, Collector! Although my disk looked reasonably clean except for a finger print, I guess it was enough to muck up the disk. I cleaned it with Windex, and the program installed and worked perfectly!!! :D :D :D

And thanks for the installation programs. I'm a bit of a computer noob who's never been very successful setting up DoxBox. But now, you've given me back my Larry 7 and Freddie Pharkas!!! Keep cranking out those installation programs!!!

Again thanks,
Ernie

P.S. - Now you've got me digging through boxes for my old copies of "The Dagger of Aman Ra" and Stellar 7. ;)
