I remember there was some book out there that clearly ripped off King's Quest and was looking for the name, when I came across these...

I don't think (my mind is old and hazy) - that I have ever heard of these.

Those are fairly well known. One thing that is a bit sad is that when Infamous Adventures turned its attention to Infamous Quests, they abandoned all of their fan projects in development. One of them was Kingdom of Sorrow.
