We were chatting about this at work the other day. The man was a trailblazer and a visionary. He will be remembered.

As so many have seem to ignored this thread, I was beginning to wonder if some here are unfamiliar with the significance of Harryhausen. He was one of the leading pioneers of film animation. Even if you do not know of him, I am sure most have seen some of his films. In many ways he was the professional descendant Willis O'Brien, the animator of the original King Kong.
