Who makes money off old games that are rereleased today, like for example "King's Quest 1-3" for $9.99 on GOG? Does Robert Williams see any of that money? Does anyone else involved in the development get a cut? Or does it all go to Activision and GOG?
I'm basically wondering if the original developers still make money off old rereleases, or if it's pretty much just the copyright holders?
question about who makes money off old games
Re: question about who makes money off old games
I don't know for sure, but I would be very surprised if anyone gets anything besides GOG and Activision. As to what and how much, you would have to know what is in the contract GOG has with Activision. It might be a flat license fee, royalties per sale or some kind of combination.
