Quick question about 1985 KQ2
Hello,
I'm running the original 1985 KQ2 (Version 1.1h) for the IBM PCJr using DOSBox. It plays just fine, but I don't hear any music during the intro (where king Graham walks across the screen, bows, etc). But I can hear sounds just fine throughout the game. So I'm wondering, did the original version not play any sound during the intro? Or is something wrong with how it's running under DOSBox?

What changes have you made to your dosbox.conf? What do you have under [DOSBox] for machine= or under [speaker] tandy= ?

I disabled all the sound devices except for PC Speaker and Tandy is set to Auto. The machine= is set to pcjr. I also disabled xms, ems & umb. It plays fine and I hear sound/music throughout the game except during the intro, where there's no sound at all.Collector wrote:What changes have you made to your dosbox.conf? That's a bit odd. The title screen should have Greensleeves playing. Try setting the machine type to "tandy" instead.

Try defaults for everything but machine=tandy.

I tried your suggestion and still no sound during the intro I wonder if it's a problem with the disc image itself.

Do you hear any music after you die? Do you hear any musical notes or just white noise sound effects?
Wait. You said it was a PCjr version? Maybe it doesn't have intro music?

That's what I was thinking. All other sounds play fine. The waves by the beach. When you open Grandma's door. The "scary" music when you enter the house and the wolf is lying in the bed, etc. Doesn't have any static or other problems. That's why I posted here. To see if anyone has, or remembered, the pcjr version and they could tell me if the intro was supposed to have sound or not.

I have the 1985 pcjr version 1.00 and there is no music on the title screen. Greensleeves begins playing just before Graham gets up to look in the mirror.

Thanks for the info Sure enough, I played the intro all the way through and the music doesn't play until he gets up to look at the magic mirror. I just thought it was odd not to have any kind of music during the beginning of the intro
