GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
Ok now I'm getting a problem described here.

I try renaming the closest mpg2 file I can find but it still tells me to insert the first CD even though I have it in the drive. Has anyone else gotten this?

Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
Did you install in someplace other than the default location?

Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
Nope. It's at C:\SIERRA\Gabriel Knight 3
Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
Ok I figured out that's because I had it set in Windows 95 compatibility mode. I take that off I get a black screen but can't hear any of the Sierra.avi music that most people say they hear.
Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
Sounds like a missing codec. Try renaming Sierra.avi in the Data folder to get the game to skip it.

Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
That doesn't work. I think the game is then pulling the Sierra.avi file from the CD. I also tried downloading a dummy avi of a clock and that didn't work either. Can you give me the codec?
Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
Double click the Sierra.avi and see if it plays in Media player. Also check out the GK3 Help Page for more ideas.

Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
Yeah it plays just fine outside the game. Hard to believe its such a hassle to make it play in the game. I'm stumped.
Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
Did you check out the GK3 Help Page? Also, do you have FDD Show or any other big codec packages installed?

Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
Yeah and I tried to check for FDD. I typed FDD in Search and nothing came up. Do you think that was good enough? What are some of the other big name codecs I need to be looking for?
Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
Check the Add/Remove Programs.

Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
I can only codecs I can find are the Div X Codec and XVid Mpeg4 codec.
Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
Try uninstalling the XVid codec. If that doesn't fix it you can reinstall it.

Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
That didn't work and I'm sorry to keep bugging you but you seem to be enjoying this.
Re: GK3 Invalid Resource Path Problem
Try updating your graphics card drivers.
