Gabriel Knight 3 Minimizer

Hi, all!

Since I couldn't use alt+tab to switch between Gabriel Knight 3 and other applications in Windows 7, I developed a small minimizer so I could minimize the game using a hotkey combination. It's user configurable and doesn't require .NET or anything other than the OS. I initially made it for my personal use, but if you also want to use it, just download it from http://www.filedropper.com/gk3minimizer.

It should be compatible with any version of Windows, but I haven't tested it under Windows 95 or 98.

Can't wait 'till the 20th Aniversary editon!

I'm sorry, I just realized that the application needs administrator rights in order to work correcty if you're under Windows Vista, 7 or 8. I have updated it and uploaded it again. Here is the link: http://www.filedropper.com/gk3minimizer_2.

I didn't realize this until now because I always have UAC turned off, so adminstrator rights are granted by default.

I added the elevation request just in case you are running GK3.exe as administrator. A user running Windows 8 encountered that problem and was unable to use the minimizer because his game executable was configured to run elevated. Another solution would have been to right click the file and select "run as administrator".

I also corrected a problem when running this on Windows XP.

Weird. I don't recall there being an issue with ALT TAB in GK3.

From my experience, you can't ALT-TAB between GK3 and other apps at least in XP, Vista, 7 and 8 if GK3 is running full screen. The only way I found around this (aside from using the small program I developed) is to control+alt+del and close task manager to return to the desktop.

What my app does is Register a hotkey shortcut and send a message to the GK3 window to minimize when the shortcut is pressed.
