Lode Runner Online : Music / Sound Issue

Post by Vivik »

Hi Everybody !

I have an odd sound and music problem, if a sound is played while we can hear a music the game will freeze (but not crash), as long we can hear the music, Once the music finished the game will continue.
The oddest thing is this bug appears randomly, even in the main menu !

I haven't the original disc of the game, so I use BIN/CUE Images mounted with Daemon Tools.
My LRO run on windows 7 64-bits using the latest version of the installer avaliable on the site (Thanks Collector !).

Any Idea? I will be glad !

Perhaps an error with your image. Try it with your original disc.

I wonder if we should put something along those lines at the top of this thread:

Probably should when I get a chance. If I forget, give me a reminder.

Hello!

What a shame for me if you can't support abandonware. :(

Anyway I found a solution for people who, by (bad)luck, meet the same problem. (After a week of search :P )
When LRO lunched:
- Go to the task manager (ctrl+alt+suppr)
- In the process tab, right-click your LRO process
- Go to assigning processor affinity (I don't know how it's named in english but see the picture) And select <All Processor>

I don't know how or why it works exactly...But it works !

A last thing, I'm forced to do this any time I lunch LRO, Is there a way to do this automatically, a batch file or whatever?

Hi, Vivik. While I do not want illegal downloads associated with this site, the main reason for not supporting "abandonware" is that it is rarely unadulterated. In order to solve someone's problem I have to be able to replicate it. "Abandonware" is usually hacked, ripped, modified or altered in someway or another that often results in odd behavior that simply does not occur with legitimate copies. More times than I can count a problem that I was attempting to solve turned out to be because the person did not have a legitimate copy.

use this in a batch file: batch code
start /affinity 1 filename.exe
where 1 is the hexadecimal bit masks for CPU-0 only (CPU-0 = 1, CPU-1 = 2, CPU-2 = 4, CPU-3 = 8, CPU-1 + CPU-3 = A).
